It's becoming a thing. Had to paint a trombone to go with the trumpet, cornet and piano. Soon I'll have a whole band. What instrument shall I paint next? orchestra

Wendover Arts Festival, starts tomorrow evening with a preview, then all weekend 10 am to 5pm. Beautiful artworks, glass, woodwork and jewellery. And very good quality food and drink. Make a day of it.

I just had to paint a cornet to go with the trumpet, being a brass ba**er it would be wrong not to. That's the music trilogy so far, but watch this space for more instruments of the orchestra or commission your own instrument. **er

Someone once suggested I paint musical subjects as I have been a musician all my life. I finally painted my first brass instrument, a trumpet and have so enjoyed painting this. Pianos have been a favourite for a while. Music lends itself to colour, freedom, jazziness and an abstract feel.

Work in progress but nearly finished. Finally got round to painting my Cathedral window in the bluebells photograph. The magical view appears every year at Dockey Woods. ,
