Explore soaring arches, historic ruins, and intricate stonework that tell centuries of history. Throughout the Minster, if you look carefully, you'll spot over 30 hidden wooden mice, carved by the famous craftsman Robert "Mouseman" Thompson.

Bishop's Manor

Just a stone's throw from Howden Minster, The Bishop's Manor - sometimes called Bishop's Palace - was built between 1388 and 1405 by Bishop Skirlaw. Once a residence and stop-off for the powerful Prince Bishops of Durham travelling between Durham and London, it later saw Tudor, Georgian, and modern changes.

Though privately owned today, its limestone and brick structure can be admired from outside. The site offers a fascinating glimpse into Howden's medieval importance and enduring architectural heritage.
