Why would you do this to the Mitchell Library? 🤦‍♂️

One of Glasgow’s most recognisable and impressive buildings, covered in graffiti for absolutely no reason.

Whatever your opinion on graffiti as art, surely historic buildings like this should be off limits. Glasgow has some incredible architecture — we should be looking after it, not making it harder and more expensive to maintain.

Suspended from the Finnieston Crane, The Glasgow Rose brings a striking burst of colour to the Clyde—framed by the Hydro, the city skyline and the deep blue of dusk.

Created for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, it offers a contemporary take on the iconic floral designs associated with Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh.

Glasgow looks completely different between the buildings.

From the grand architecture of Royal Exchange Square and the Gallery of Modern Art to the narrow lanes and weathered rooftops hidden behind the main streets—every gap reveals another side of the city.

Which view of Glasgow do you prefer: the famous landmarks or the places most people walk past?

Some photos from yesterday showing Union Street reopened and the empty space left behind, alongside one photo from the night of the fire.

Four months after the devastating blaze, the roads and pavements have reopened, buses are running along the street again and Glasgow Central’s main entrance is back in use.

But the 1851 B-listed Union Corner building has disappeared from Glasgow’s skyline, leaving a huge gap in one of the busiest parts of the city.

Temporary uses are being considered, but reports suggest it could be five years before a permanent building takes its place.
