Hello everyone, a bit of an update for you all.

In the next few weeks we’ll be moving to the south of England for a few years. I think I’ve been in denial about it and quietly hoping something might change, but here we are. It wasn’t the plan, but life has a habit of doing its own thing.

What this means going forward is I’ll still be taking on photoshoots in North East Scotland, but they’ll need to be booked in advance and fitted around set dates when I’m back in the area.

All existing photoshoot gift vouchers will of course still be honoured.

I’ve also made the decision to bring my photography under Studio McKinney, alongside my artwork. Managing multiple profiles has become too time consuming, and it makes far more sense to have everything in one place.

Going forward I’ll be focusing more on fine art photography, which ties in naturally with my painted work and the direction I’m heading in.

Hello! I have rather neglected my social media on the photography side of things recently as I've been busy building the business up on the art side. Sorry for the silence, I am still here behind the scenes.

Currently I have a new website in progress which will better link everything together and will have a fully functional booking calendar which will make life a lot easier.

I do have a very small amount of availability for photoshoots until the end of February, this can be booked by contacting me via DM. I will open bookings for March onwards in the next week or two.

Over the last few months I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to work in 2026, slower, more intentional, and more story-led.

From January to March I’m opening a small number of Creative Content Sessions for creatives, small businesses, and rural brands who want natural, honest imagery for their websites and social media.

These sessions are gentle, collaborative, and designed to give you a library of images you can actually use, without the pressure of a full brand shoot.

I’ll be balancing this work alongside a planned fine art collection and commissioned artwork, so availability is intentionally limited.

Sessions are available in Moray, Scotland until mid-March, and in Hampshire/Surrey/Berkshire from April. There will be additional availability in Scotland over fixed dates.

Don’t wait for summer, winter memories carry their own enchanting atmosphere along with a sprinkle of magic.

I’ve always believed that the most beautiful images are the ones born from imperfect moments. When the wind lifts a mane, when breath curls in the cold air, when nothing is staged… those are the photographs that hold the deepest feeling. Their candid nature reveals true beauty and raw emotion.

Perfect setups, perfect weather, perfect poses... they’re forgettable. They fade into the background of a million moments because they lack what really matters; genuine connection.

Winter shoots may come with a few challenges, but the memories you create, the laughter, the warmth, the wild magic, are worth every second.

There is beauty in every season. Evergreen joy, evergreen connection, evergreen stories waiting to be captured. And winter just happens to be one of the most spellbinding of all.

I love a black and white image 🖤

The moodiness of the weather and the wild sea on the day of this shoot worked so well in monochrome. I think people think I'm mad when I say I love less than favourable weather, it creates drama and atmosphere in an image and I believe we should make the most of all the seasons, not just the fair weather ones.

So, if you're brave enough to handle the Scottish weather and fancy a somewhat wild photoshoot on the beach of in the woods get in contact.

I'm hoping we'll see more snow in January and February and I can be flexible with availability through those months so we may manage to do some winter wonderland style shoots.
