Ancient rituals and modern love. 🕯️✨

I spent a beautiful afternoon capturing Michal and Ania’s Handfasting. This wasn't just a ceremony; it was a surprise gift from the Viking community in Manchester. The atmosphere, the history, and the incredible bond between friends made it a dream to photograph.

I’m constantly reminded that weddings are at their best when they reflect the true soul of the couple.

There is something truly grounding about capturing a wedding that returns to the roots of tradition. 🌿

I recently had the honour of photographing a Handfasting - an ancient Norse/Celtic ritual - for the wonderful Michal and Ania. This ceremony was a surprise "gift" from their Viking friends in Manchester, and witnessing that sense of brotherhood and sisterhood was a highlight of my year.

I love weddings like this because they prove that no two love stories are the same. Every couple brings their own unique magic to the lens, and capturing those authentic, raw moments is exactly why I do what I do.

Christmas at Moorforge Viking Settlement with Folk Cumbria was full of laughter, music, and cheer 🎄

We have been visited by very special guest… Shanty Klaus. A sea-weathered cousin of Santa who, legend has it, brings presents only to the naughty ones. Make of that what you will.

This time it was a proper family expedition. I travelled with Monika, Helena, Ola, and Luna. Luna also became my official Christmas helper and photographer for a while, armed with my camera and a very serious sense of responsibility 📸Even Ola joined in.

And yes, Rocky, our black Labrador, had his very first visit to Moorforge and took it all in like a seasoned longhouse resident.

Huge thanks to Ryan from Folk Cumbria for the invitation, to all the wonderful musicians, and to the incredible hosts David and Sue for creating such a warm, welcoming space yet again. We are also sending love to all our friends.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Martyna & Aaron as part of their complimentary engagement shoot – included with every full day wedding package.

From the moment we started, it was clear how special their connection is. They’re funny, supportive, and so natural together – the kind of couple you can instantly picture standing the test of time.

It’s an absolute privilege to be trusted with capturing such meaningful moments, and I truly cannot wait for their wedding in May.

I received this card after photographing the charity event of promwear fashion show for Educate , and honestly… it might be the kindest review I’ve ever had.

The funny thing is, I don’t feel like I did anything extraordinary – I just turned up with my camera and did what I do for somebody who is doing a lot for others - so it felt natural like saying hello back, to somebody who said hello to you. But sometimes, what feels small to us can mean a lot to others.

I’m grateful for the words in this card, for the reminder that our work can touch others in ways we don’t always see.

Thank you, BodyMind Educate, Beccy, and all the young people involved. You made me feel special. So special that it kind of feel uncomfortable, haha.

I had the pleasure of taking photos at the Spirit of Little Hulton Festival for BodyMind Educate, during a fantastic fashion show organised by Beccy. The young people who took part as models absolutely smashed it, and Beccy deserves huge credit for making it all happen.

To all parents and young people involved: you’re welcome to download, print, and share any of the photos from the album completely free of charge. ✨ Exciting news ✨

Next weekend I’ll be taking some photos at the Spirit of Little Hulton Festival, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with BodyMind Educate, who are running a wonderful Free Promwear Service charity.

When our oldest daughter Helena was preparing for her prom this year, Becky (the founder of BodyMind Educate) helped her find the perfect dress through this initiative. It made a real difference — not just practically, but emotionally too — and I am deeply grateful. Now, Helena will be stepping onto the stage again as one of the models presenting prom wear at the festival, and naturally, I’ve offered to support Becky with photographs.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Free Promwear Service exists to make sure no young person misses out on prom because of financial worries. They provide dresses, suits, shoes, bags, and accessories completely free of charge, so every student can shine on their special day. That kind of kindness deserves to be celebrated.

What an absolute blast! Huge thanks to all the incredible bands who took the stage and gave it their all: Wicked Side, Mexican Painkiller, Vorstellan, and Big Cat Chic – every set was packed with energy and talent.

Massive appreciation to the bar staff and security for keeping the night running smoothly and making sure everyone had a great time.

Big love to the host Alex, music tech, and the event/pub management.

We had to head off before Atlantean hit the stage, but cheers to them too – hope the set was killer!
