Just had a new film camera land from Japan to sit alongside my Yashica medium format setup and I canā€™t wait to put it to work capturing weddings with even more intention, texture, and nostalgia.

Thereā€™s just something about film that digital canā€™t replicate. The imperfections, the emotion, the feeling. šŸŽžļø

Can we give a shout out to all the Best Men.

Being asked to be Best Man sounds glamorous right up until you realise the job description is basically:

- Keep the groom calm

- Keep the rings safe

- Make sure nobody loses a shoe before photos

- Organise a stag do thatā€™s ā€œmemorableā€ but not too memorable

- Deliver a speech balancing heartfelt emotion, comedy, and ā€œstories that wonā€™t get the marriage annulledā€

And somehow the speech becomes the most terrifying five minutes of the entire wedding day šŸ˜‚

The groom only has to say ā€œI do.ā€
The bride looks effortlessly amazing.
But the Best Man is backstage rehearsing one joke for the 400th time while questioning every life decision that led him here.

Itā€™s the only public speaking event where:

- your audience includes grandparents, toddlers, exes, and accountants

- half the room is filming

- one badly timed story can end your friendship instantly

If I only had 30 minutes at your weddingā€¦

I wouldnā€™t try to ā€œcover everythingā€. Thatā€™s not what Iā€™m looking for when I photograph a wedding anyway.

Iā€™m looking for what actually matters when you strip everything else away.

The reactions.
The in-between moments.
The things nobody is posing for or planning.

Because thatā€™s what stays with you.

Not the volume of coverage.
Not ticking off a list of group shots.
Just the moments that feel real when you look back.

Thatā€™s how I approach a wedding, not as something to document in full, but something to read properly while itā€™s unfolding.
