Most parents worry their children won’t behave for a family photo shoot.
Let me be honest with you, reality check time. As a mother of almost 16 years and a family photographer for the last 13 - If children are forced into something boring, rigid and still (waves to the fellow mums of high energy 3 year olds!) then chances are they will hate it and so will you!
This applies from toddlers right up to teens!
Bringing your family together for this moment feels so important to you. You want these memories. But in order to achieve the beautiful, carefree and fun portraits that radiate joy and connection you have to create opportunities that reflect these things.
That means you bring all that love and allow yourselves to enjoy this moment. Together we encourage movement, silliness and play. And I’m here to guide you all the way - I’ll make suggestions as we go.
Allow yourself to enter their world of imagination - hunting for fairies or stickman in the woods or exploring the beach, hoping to spot some treasure.
Follow their interests, making the session all the more unique to your family. Pop on a favourite superhero cape, play with diggers at the beach, fly a kite, splash in the sea! Play catch, visit their favourite park, go scooting. At home we could make cakes and get messy in the kitchen, read stories or have a garden water fight!
Bring along some favourite (non messy!) snacks or promise an ice cream once we’re done. Better still, include that ice cream in our session!
I love helping you settle on the perfect location for your family to be themselves but remember that at the very heart of it all is connection and love. That can be achieved anywhere.
Spring sessions are open. Message me if you’re thinking about it.
