Dyslexia Awareness Week: My Experience With Dyslexia In The Workplace.

Recently in my current job, I have found working on a till and having Dyslexia very challenging at times due to some of the people I serve not being patient with me or understanding.

The prejudice has been difficult at times, however through helping to educate more people and learning my strengths and my weaknesses, I am coping better than I use to in my workplaces.

Thank you to everyone who has been understanding & compassionate towards my Dyslexia, I really do appreciate this. ๐Ÿ™

As we hopefully for the last time are easing out of lockdown for good, sadly many people have lost their loved ones this year, especially due to Covid.
I wanted to re-share my first year body of work I created exploring how I coped with my grief and are still continuing to heal years later.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel always. โค
'Out of Context'
'Efi Theodorou explores through her Greek Orthodox iconography what this means to her aesthetically, as she takes part in this spiritual quest understanding what could be her enlightenment. As Theodorou's inspiration was struck by her close friend passing away recently.
Through this cross-shape composition, the iconography Efi has photographed represents an aesthetic form telling the story of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice, and then finally leading into his enlightenment. This is something Theodorou is questioning through her life choices and events that has happened to her. As the sacrifice Efi and many others go through when they lose someone close to them, and how they evolve from this.'

It's fascinating to think how others perceptions of the environment around them is different to how you and I see the world around us.
Some of the people I have met in my life speak ill of the world from their tragic experiences of life.
Some speak of its beauty in mundane.
I see both of life's beauty and tragedy in the everyday.
Knowing that live is always improving in minuscule seconds.

Today's words of wisdom:
Whoever that person is you keep dreaming of and pining for, let them go for good. That door is closed and a better door is in the process of opening when you move forward without them. โ›“๐Ÿ’ซ

'To live in the past, to fear the future, yet to realise we're all living them all simultaneously in the present.' ~Efi Theodorou.
(Just made that up) ๐Ÿ˜‰
This is partly one of the reasons why photography is my main creative medium. The camera allows me to capture a moment in time, that otherwise would have gone.
It is a private yet public diary which portrays how I see things at different moments throughout my journey in this thing we call "life".
Most of what I post has meaning and significance to me. I'd like to think for my viewers as well, that they can take away something from my work; whether it be sombre, humorous, or make you question or appreciate life itself. ๐ŸŒป
Whilst I'm figuring out how to do that, please enjoy my GCSE Photography project inspiration from Jan Groover's work. ๐Ÿ’œ (Tools kindly borrowed for this shoot several years back at the amazing motor vehicle project at the Ponders End Youth Centre). โค๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿ”ฉ๐Ÿ”งโ›“

It's mesmerizing how our memories are fluid yet stagnant.
I often find myself longingly looking back to the past, even when I'm at my happiest. The past haunts me, my soul drifts back to the places where I was at my happiest.
The metallic oils dripping from the car engines being worked on.
The dried oil stains on the green and black checkered floors.
The gentlemen working on the cars, and of course, the scratched mugs with stains of embedded tea/coffee inside the variety of mugs from Bob the Builder; to a Union Jack mug.

I think it's fair to use the analogy that I've been operating like a machine these last few months.
Creativity for me has been stagnant since last year.
I've had pleanty of creative ideas and pursuits, however, they are not ripen to come to fruition yet.
As some of you know, my faith is in spirituality and I am learning to balance my equilibrium of divine masculine and feminine energies.
This means allowing my feminine energy to blossom in her own divine timing. This aspect of my creative energy is slowly coming to fruition. I am still taking a step back and allowing my divine masculine to take a rest from creating non stop all the time.

In the meantime, thank you for sticking by, and showing love and support to my work which I am always thankful for. โค๐Ÿ™ Please enjoy my image of the really cool, retro engine I took for my GCSE Photography project; where it all started. At one of my fave places, the Ponders End Youth Centre. โค
