NOT THAT BRIDGE…

Description:
Everyone knows the big railway bridge at Buffies Brae.

But that’s not the bridge I’m talking about.

Before the railway. Before the viaduct. Before steam reshaped this corner of Dunfermline, there was an older crossing over the burn — first planks and stepping-stones, then the original Buffies-Brae Bridge of 1766.

I went underneath Buffies Brae with Ronnie Collins from West Fife Woodlands and what we found was stranger than expected: an extended tunnel, a hidden chamber nearly three metres high, a link toward Strachan’s Well… and the return of our old friend Wilson from the Bridge Street Tunnel explore.

Dunfermline history doesn’t always shout.

Sometimes it waits underneath your feet.

Expectation: sweeping Highland views from Bealach na Bà.
Reality: fog, silence, and the most Scottish travel fail imaginable.

Still beautiful. Still dramatic. Still worth it.

Would you brave this road for the chance of a view?

At Sligachan on the Isle of Skye, an old stone bridge sits beneath the jagged Cuillin mountains — a place where history, folklore and wild Scottish weather collide. Local legend says the river holds a strange promise: touch the water, let it dry naturally, and Skye gives something back.

Featuring Caol Tours, based in Kyle of Lochalsh, for travellers who want the stories behind Scotland’s most unusual places.

Bruce Festival in Dunfermline is about so much more than the events, performances, and attractions. Festivals are created by people – both those who work hard to organise them and those who come along to enjoy them.

Without the organisers, volunteers, performers, traders, reenactors, and visitors, there would be no festival at all. Every person who attended helped create the fantastic atmosphere that made this event so special.

As a photographer, I spent the weekend capturing not only the action but also the people who brought the festival to life. You might even spot yourself in these photos!

If you find yourself in any of the images, please leave a Like and a comment. I'd love to know you've seen them and hear about your experience at Bruce Festival.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. Until next time!
