Peter Alden Wedding Photography With over 40 years behind the lens, from the days of film to today’s digital cameras, I capture weddings with warmth and ease.

Eastbourne-based and covering the South East, I’m known for my friendly approach that helps you relax and enjoy every moment. With over 30 years behind the lens, my journey as a wedding photographer began in the days of film, where every frame truly mattered, and has evolved alongside today’s latest digital technology. Based in Eastbourne and travelling throughout the South East, I bring a calm, f

riendly and personable approach to every wedding. I believe the best photographs come from genuine moments, captured naturally, allowing you to relax, enjoy your day, and trust that the detail is being beautifully preserved.

A lovely moment between mother and daughter, caught briefly in the dappled shadows of the trees around Exmouth Market in London.

The original image was underexposed, but importantly, it still held plenty of shadow detail. I’m not a fan of flash or strobe lighting for this kind of moment. Technically, the scene could probably have benefited from it, but by keeping things natural, the skin tones remain softer, warmer and far more flattering.

From the original frame, I first produced a more balanced edit, gently lifting the highlights and shadows while adding a little extra colour saturation to bring the image back to life without making it feel overworked.

The next version takes the photograph in a more cinematic direction, with exaggerated colour, slightly lower contrast and a darker vignette to frame the shot. Additional bokeh has been added in post-production too, helping to give the mother and daughter more definition, separation and impact within the scene.

Finally, because many clients still prefer black and white photographs for framing and display, I created the obligatory monochrome version. Or black and white, to use the more familiar description. It strips the image back to expression, connection and atmosphere.

One simple captured moment, interpreted in four different ways.

I don’t usually film video at weddings, as I normally focus on photography, but at last week’s wedding, I decided to attach my iPhone to the top of my camera rig and simply let it record parts of the day as they happened naturally.

With no colour grading, cropping or editing, (just slowed down to 24fps to try and lose the digital-look) the result is a simple and honest one-minute snapshot of the wedding day. It captures the atmosphere, laughter and little moments beautifully - relaxed, natural and completely real.

Blast from the past...a lovely small wedding in what was Dean's Place, now The Alfriston. A period Daimler limousine alongside a stunning Rolls-Royce Phantom adds to the sense of occasion.
