Deshingling unfinished, badly installed shingles before they blow away in the next wind.
Now we need money to buy new purlins, and probably need some new shingles to account for the ruined ones. Not to mention needing new equipment and PPE, to make sure we check all of the safety boxes.
Let's get this cleaned up, safetyfied, and usable!

On dépose des bardeaux inachevés et mal posés avant qu’ils ne s’envolent au prochain coup de vent.
Maintenant, il nous faut des sous pour acheter de nouvelles pannes, et sans doute aussi quelques nouveaux bardeaux pour remplacer ceux qui ont été fichus. Sans oublier du nouvel équipement et des EPI, histoire de cocher toutes les cases de sécurité.
Allez, on remet ça au propre, on sécurise tout, et on le rend de nouveau utilisable !

Handling collections at ! Coloured glass from the guest house of Jarrow monastery, building D, also opus signinum, a glazed floor tile, and some farmed animal remains. Plus some lovely banter with the team there.
A walk down the farm and chill out at the grandstand in the sun 🌞
It was a quiet day, beautiful and slow paced in the best way.

Samedi, nous avons manipulé sur les collections au musée de Jarrow Hall.
Du verre coloré provenant de la maison d’hôtes du monastère de Jarrow (bâtiment D), ainsi que de l’opus signinum, un carreau de sol émaillé et quelques ossements d’animaux d’élevage. Sans oublier de bons moments de plaisanterie avec l’équipe sur place.
Une promenade jusqu’à la ferme, puis un moment de détente au soleil dans les gradins 🌞
C’était une journée tranquille, avec un rythme lent et agréable.

I love a mobile workshop... Even when we're evicted by the lion for nap time. I'm a bit wary of the gnome wielding a knife in public....

J’apprécie vraiment un atelier mobile… Même quand on se fait expulser par le lion pour l’heure du dodo. Je me méfie du nain qui brandit un couteau en public…

We then landed ourselves at which is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself anywhere nearby! I met the volunteers and ate the cake, both as lovely as each other. I just love this boat! Clearly, Moss did, too. The book featuring Stonehenge is massive.

Then, next door but one, the Abbey Church of St Mary and St Melor, also worth a visit, a very beautiful building with history dating back to at least 979ce, probably even older, with a possible previous church building having been on site before that.

🗓️This week I had the pleasure of accompanying at with to help him deliver a masterclass to a group of really incredible leathercrafters.🚙

🐄I found the tannery itself to be epic from all angles, working with the landscape to create leather and to farm, being conscious and kind to the environment and the animals in their care. What a truly inspiring place!🌳

🪡I'm also impressed by Heritage Crafts, the way they organised the whole event and the way it flowed was just fantastic, and made it an experience that was easy to enjoy, engage, and connect with amazing people.🙌

🙏Many thanks to Andy for the opportunity and the experience you've given me. Words can't express how invaluable this is to me.💚

Here's a baggy bag, good for wearing on the belt.

I made a small belt pouch a few years ago with - a slightly different and more simple design, but enough to spark both a fascination with the craft and some basic skills to get me started! I've also had the privilege of learning some other leathery stuff with him more recently.

This one is my own design, based on what I've learned with him with a sprinkle of initiative.

Voici une petite sacoche bien ample, parfaite à porter à la ceinture.

J’ai fabriqué une petite bourse de ceinture il y a quelques années avec — un modèle un peu différent et plus simple, mais qui a suffi à éveiller ma fascination pour le travail du cuir et à me donner les bases pour me lancer. J’ai aussi eu la chance d’apprendre d’autres techniques du cuir avec lui plus récemment.

Celle-ci est mon propre modèle, inspiré de ce que j’ai appris avec lui, avec une petite touche d’initiative personnelle.

I met at the Ancient Caledonia Camp - run by .leather - where he forged this blade with and now it has a sheath.

He did most of the moulding, I found the shape and design form itself as I experimented and explored making the sheath.

I'm learning lots and keen to do more and more!
