Woo! The good news has landed!

The mass badger cull in England officially concluded in January 2026, ending a controversial 13-year policy that saw approximately 250,000 badgers killed. While a single specific licence remains active in Cumbria until 2029, the UK government has transitioned to a strategy focused on non-lethal disease control. This new approach prioritises a national badger vaccination programme, the development of a cattle vaccine, and stricter biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of bovine TB.

Did you know?

Similar to human fingerprints, no two giraffes have the same spot pattern.

Despite their length, giraffe necks have only seven vertebrae—the same number as humans, just much larger.

They have excellent eyesight and stand roughly 2 meters (over 6 feet) tall at birth.

To stop blood rushing to their head when drinking, they have elastic-walled jugular veins and large one-way valves.

Their tongues can grow up to 45 cm, and their dark pigment helps protect them from sunburn
