I managed to capture this image with my phone before I had to take shelter inside and close all the doors and windows as the lightning was extremely close and was also causing multiple power surges in our house. One bolt was so close that we could hear the initial crack of the lightning itself, followed almost instantly by a bright yellow flash just outside our window before the big boom. It is not very common to see thunderstorms like this in the north of Scotland. Stay safe out there everyone.

Another day on the road with Gabbie from Wild By Nature, this time up in Helmsdale.

I’m really pleased to share that my 2027 BRAWSCOTLAND calendar, along with a selection of prints is now available at the wonderful Timespan Heritage and Arts Centre. This is now the third stop along the NC500 where you can find my work.

Alongside my products, you’ll also find some of Gabbie’s Wild by Nature pieces in the gift shop, which makes it a great place to browse if you’re passing through.

We were lucky with a bit of sunshine while we were there, so we sat outside with a coffee from the café, overlooking the river and the gardens.

If you’re travelling the NC500 through Helmsdale, it’s well worth a stop.

And if you’re around this Sunday, Gabbie and I will be at the Vintage Car Rally in Tain.

Pleased to see my 2027 calendar featured on Johnsons Calendars socials recently.

This was my first time working with them and the print quality has been excellent. The colour reproduction is precise and the detail in the landscape work translates very well to print. The paper and finish are of a consistently high standard.

Good to work with a company that delivers a reliable, professional result.

Road trip yesterday with Gabbie from Wild By Nature, stocking local retailers and pausing at Berriedale Beach for a wee moment in the sun. Busy summer ahead filled with markets and events, looking forward to more collaborations.

Dornoch Market returns for 2026 tomorrow. The Cathedral Green will once again fill with a familiar mix of local makers and handcrafted work, with plenty to browse and take in. It is a good chance to support local small businesses and spend a bit of time looking closely at what is on offer.

We will be back with our selection of prints, showcasing all that makes Scotland braw.

Princess Anne is also visiting Dornoch Cathedral tomorrow, which will bring a notable moment to the town during the day.

The 2027 calendar is now ready for preorder!

I stepped away from the square format for next year’s calendar and moved towards horizontal images, which I’ve been enjoying more lately, allowing for bigger date boxes and more space. A full redesign, shaped by plenty of small tweaks along the way to get it just right.

For the first time, the calendar is now printed double sided to reduce paper use and keep shipping weight down. The covers are printed on a thicker 400gsm silk art stock with a gloss laminate finish and the inner pages on 200gsm silk art, resulting in a cleaner, higher quality print.

Price includes UK shipping.

Calendars will start shipping at the end of this month.
