I won’t be there this Saturday as I’m off to the Netherlands to spend some time with my family, but please do come along and support all the other lovely small businesses taking part.

If you’re around, pop by, have a browse and show some support for the other local businesses. It’s always great to see these events supported, so I hope you all have a brilliant day!

Our next market will be here before we know it.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my stall at the Lairg Crofters Show for a blether, and to those who supported my work by taking home a piece of Highland photography. I really appreciate every conversation, kind word and purchase.

The weather was kind, and it looked like a busy and successful day all round. Thank you as well to the organisers for putting together such a great event. 👏

It’s been a while since the last time, but I’m glad the Culbokie Community Market has a space for me again tomorrow. 😎

It’s been a while since the last time, but I’m glad the Culbokie Community Market has a space for me again tomorrow. 😎

THE LAST POST THIS MONTH 🥰
Six days ago when we put up the first post we had 28 mentions for our 2nd summer market. (Traditionally a time when community markets are difficult to fill). Now we still have 28, but in between then and now there have been 8 changes to the original list.
Well done to Sylvie, our market organiser for bringing us a varied and interesting market with a fantastic range of both food and craft.🥰. And a great big thank you to everyone for supporting our market.

I’ll be back tomorrow at this lovely wee market in Brora. There will also be a car boot sale for the first time, so there will be plenty to choose from!

Our next market is at 11am on Friday. You still have time to clear your cupboards if you would like a car boot pitch.

A quick reminder about the dangers of adders and dogs when out exploring the Scottish Highlands. 🐍

Mila had a close encounter with this adder today. I’m still not sure whether she was actually bitten, but she suddenly got a fright while sniffing around the grass and quickly moved her head away from the snake.

As a precaution, I took her to the vet. She has been given paracetamol and antihistamines, with more to come over the next 24 hours, and we will be keeping a very close eye on her.

An adder bite can be very painful and cause significant swelling. More serious bites can cause weakness, breathing difficulties and collapse, and in the worst cases can be fatal. Thankfully, most dogs recover with prompt veterinary treatment.

Adders are generally shy and will avoid people and dogs if they can, but they may bite when they feel threatened. So keep an eye out when your dogs are sniffing around long grass, heathland and sunny spots.

Hopefully Mila has simply had a lucky escape, but it was certainly a reminder to be careful when out enjoying the countryside.

If you suspect your dog has been bitten by an adder, contact your vet straight away.
