Great couple of hours at Troup Head watching the Gannets build nests…. (spot the fish). Bring on the Puffins (low res - weird FB setting) - Northern Gannet at Troup Head form one of mainland Scotland’s largest seabird colonies, with thousands nesting on steep coastal cliffs from late spring through summer. These large white birds, marked by black-tipped wings and pale golden heads, are renowned for their high-speed plunge-diving, folding their wings to strike the sea in pursuit of fish. Strong coastal updrafts allow them to glide effortlessly along the cliffs, while their dense nesting colonies are alive with constant calls and social behaviours such as bill fencing and preening.
