I have finally finished making my book.

Here's a quick look at the behind the scenes and some of the trials that I created to make sure the sequencing was correct.

The first image is the cover photo for the final book. I think the emptiness and the square format really lends itself well for the cover. It leaves a lot still to be discovered inside but hopefully intrigues you enough to open up.

If you would like to see the book make sure you come along on opening night (6th June) to see "A Frabjous State Of Affairs"!

No Dumping

I remember first photographing this scene and getting quite excited because I knew it was going to be the killer shot of the project. I think I must have taken almost a full roll of film on this to make sure I got it right.

It is one that changed my project and made me hunt even harder for the contradictions in the landscape. No Dumping with the wasteland on fire in the background, these start to add a little nihilistic humour into the project.

The second slide is some trial layouts with quick laser prints on the wall. It is nowhere close to what I ended up going with so don't worry, no spoilers, but it was a first practice at overlaying my images to see if it worked.

Remember to save the date, JUNE 6TH!

This front photograph was taken from the window of my car as I stopped at a junction. I had driven past the scene a couple of timea already and was determined not to miss it again. So, I slowed down to try and get the car behind me to overtake and capture it as it drove off in the distance. I think it worked perfectly and it is one of my favourites.

Time Registered In Spinning Dials combines a mixture of colour and monochrome images. The monochrome images are placed on separate pages to act aa a break and allow an escape. However, most of the time they are quite claustrophobic in nature and what first seemed like an escape quickly becomes all consuming.

Remember to come by on 6th June to see this (and other) work in exhibition!

Time Registered In Spinning Dials

This is an image from my final year photography project. The work focuses on the abandonment of the towns situated on the Ards Peninsula, the Eastern most point of the country.

This isolated region has become more dilapidated as the traditional industries decline. This work focuses on the landscape of the area and the psychological impact the landscape can have on people, otherwise known as the psychogeography.

Time Registered In Spinning Dials will be a part of the photography degree show on 6th June in the BA Building of Ulster University.
