There were at least five Painted Lady butterflies feeding on the Valerian in a neighbour's front garden the other day as I passed by, so I was a bit cheeky and got my camera to photograph them. We have Valerian in our front garden too, but they seemed to prefer the neighbour's πŸ™…β€β™€οΈπŸ€ͺ

I saw this common lizard pair out sunbathing together recently while on a dog walk, so I went back to get my camera, with my fingers crossed that they would still be there when I returned. Finally my luck was in, as usually I never see them when I have my camera. I believe the female is the one in front, with the male behind. The female is a bit more flighty but the male has started to become quite used to me and isn't that bothered by me sticking my phone in front of him to take videos. This photo was taken from a distance however, and has been cropped in, as I didn't want to scare them when they were sitting so nicely together 😍

I went badger watching on Saturday evening. A spare place was available at a local nature reserve on one of their badger watching evenings, so I decided to book it. It was a warm and sunny evening and the song of nightingales and a cuckoo filled the air. The badgers also did not disappoint, soon appearing from their sett and venturing very close to the hide. There were 8 in total including 3 cubs. One cub was rather feisty and enjoyed chasing off the magpies and a muntjac. All in all, it was a lovely evening and I will definitely book to go again if I get the chance 😊

Happy World Bee Day!
As I was walking through the local churchyard the other day looking out for a badger cub that had been spotted crossing the road nearby in the daytime, a lady tending the graves pointed out a swarm of honeybees to me. I went back later with my camera and then it started to rain. Concerned for the bees, I rang a local beekeeper who assured me that they would be fine overnight and would huddle together to keep warm. Sure enough, they were still there the next morning, and he came and collected them. They were incredibly calm and not bothered by me at all - as you can see, I managed to get very close.

Ps, the badger cub was found the next day and is now being looked after at a wildlife hospital.

Last week I spotted these amorous Small Nettle Weevils on the opposite side of the path where I photographed the Green Nettle Weevils. They're tiny - about 3mm - and easily mistaken for specks of dirt at first glance!
