Time for a coffee break at Louisa Coffee ☕️路易莎咖啡 Louisa Coffee

Louisa Coffee is a Taiwanese coffeehouse chain that is one of my go-tos for decent, affordable coffee. The brand is named after the Italian goddess Louisa. Louisa Coffee independently roasts all of its own coffee beans. They have more locations than Starbucks in Taiwan, and in my opinion tastes better too. They also offer breakfast foods, sandwiches and small bites. Vibes will vary depending on location, but I liked this store in Dazhi Village.

My default order is:
🥥 Coconut Americano 生椰美式

The Coconut Americano is very refreshing and the coconut water helps balance the acidity of the coffee, but the coffee flavor still stands out.

I recently found out that Louisa Coffee has made it to America and has opened a location in West Hollywood, California.

Gelato is always a good idea, especially if it’s made fresh in-store every day. Ricco Gelato recently opened December 2025 at the Mercantile West Plaza in Ladera Ranch. They use the finest ingredients with organic, hormone-free milk.

Their flavors celebrate and are inspired by global tastes (they even had a durian flavor). The sorbets are made fresh with seasonal fruit and no dairy.

They offer free samples so you can pick the flavor you really like. Flavors are also rotated on a regular basis.

In addition to their gelato, they are also known for their affogatos, which I need to try next time.

Here’s what I ordered:
🍨 Piccolo Cup - 🤎 Toffee Inglese al B***o Nocciola (Brown Butter English Toffee) + Piedmont Peppermint (Italian Heritage Mint)

The flavors were bold and creamy, and quite a variety to select from.

Mixue Irvine now open! 🍦⛄️👑 .us

The weather is starting to warm up and I was looking for a refreshing sweet treat, so I was curious to try the new Mixue location.

There’s wasn’t a line on a Monday afternoon and you can order at the counter or use a kiosk machine. Orders were being expedited pretty quickly and didn’t seem to be backed up at all for drinks or soft serve.

Here’s what we ordered:
🧋 Jasmine Float
🥭 Super Mango Sundae

One of the main drawing points is the price. Both the soft serve and the drinks are much more affordable compared to other drink and dessert shops.

Granted the store just opened, but the serving size, flavor and presentation were a bit lacking. The dollop of soft serve in the float was disappointing in portion size. The jasmine tea itself had floral notes, but the soft serve didn’t enhance the flavor of the tea or float experience. The Super Mango Sundae just used mango syrup, but no real mango chunks were added. The mango syrup was very generous and not overly sweet, but the soft serve in the sundae was hollow in the center and not filled to the top like the menu photo. The soft serve was an icier consistency rather than creamy.

I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to eat this, but the price makes for a decent treat. You can try for yourself for your own assessment.

“Friendtastic!” Parade at 🎉

This is Hong Kong Disneyland’s largest-ever parade that debuted for the 20th Anniversary celebration. It has over 100 performers, more more than 30 Disney friends and 11 floats (the Encanto float was missing when I saw the parade).

Duffy and Friends make their debut with their first-ever own parade float in park history.

The opening and closing floats feature the city’s iconic Bauhinia flower.

Meeting Characters at Hong Kong Disneyland

One of the main highlights is being able to meet Duffy and Friends at the Duffy and Friends Play House 輿好友遊玩屋.
🧸 There are only 3 friends meeting at the Play House each day (the 3 are the same for the whole day; if you want to meet all the friends you need to visit the park multiple days)
🐶 Early Park Entry Pass (1 hour before park opening) is recommended if you want minimal wait times or guarantee to see all 3 friends of the day (Note: this is an additional purchase on top of park admission and is not offered complimentary even if you stay on property)
🦊 Photopass is available in each room for each Duffy and friends meeting and they will help you use your own device as well. Photopass is also an additional cost to download your photo.

Characters wearing Special celebration (i.e 20th Anniversaey outfits) and seasonal outfits
🐭 Check the HK Disneyland app the day of your visit to see which characters are available and meeting (the character roster for the day is not cosistent every day and not all characters will be out) - Mickey wasn’t meeting my first park day, but I was able to meet him first thing in the morning on my second day
🦆 Donald and Daisy in their 20th anniversary outfits were only available for one hour in the morning on my second day (the line got cut off very quickly and was at park opening)
✨ Hong Kong Disneyland Magic Access members (annual pass holder) also get access to special meet and greets

Mossie, an interactive baby troll in World of Frozen
❄️ Randomly saw Mossie bear Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs
⛄️ Anna, Elsa, Kristoff also randomly wander around World of Frozen, but no designated meeting spot like Disney Adventure World in Paris

Got to enjoy the “Friendtastic!” Parade, Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle!, Momentous: Party in the Sky, and all the anniversary decorations.

This Mom and Pop store is only open during the warmer months Spring-Summer offering their signature shaved ice, Mian Mian Ice, ice cream, drinks and teas. Everything is made in-house and some of the ice flavors are seasonal and use fresh fruits.

The ice cream and ice reminds me of Frostbites, Joe’s Italian Ice, and Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard.

Eat at Juan Yau 磚窯 Restaurant, where Jensen Huang (CEO of NVIDIA) recently hosted his “trillion-dollar dinner”.

We were able to make a reservation and dined here for lunch back in January. This is a traditional Taiwanese restaurant and the decor and ambiance give a very nostalgic and vintage vibe.
