Materials needed: watercolour, watercolour page, a palette for mixing, a flat and a round brush
Imagine that the anxiety you feel is visible, use colours and lines to express it. Then picture a scene with wildflowers where you feel happy and safe, it can be a place you’ve been before or an imaginary one. Try to focus on your breathing and think of picking some of these wildflowers to put in a bouquet at home. Which ones would you take?
When painting, you can pick your own colours and shades, this is just a guide. You can light a candle and brew hot tea.
Start by making 4 long thin stalks with your round brush, use a medium green
On either side of the stalks, dab your round brush with more water than paint(use purple), the shapes have to be loose and resemble lavender
Then add water to them on one side to create the blended effect
Add the yellow and red in the same way, creating loose shapes and spreading them out on the page
Make light blue flowers from the center and bring up the shape in lines with a thin brush, then add water and splatter
Go back to the red and purple flowers and add tone, finally indicating a clearer shape of the petals
Fill out the gaps in between with leaves by mixing different tones of green with yellow. Add a few purple petals on the low left corner
Just go with the flow.
Add more stalks in between and water on top.
After you finish your artwork, take some time to reflect on how you are feeling and try to bring this positive image every time you feel anxious.
