Some traditions are too important to let go. 🥂😂

Today they go back to school.
They’re now 13 and 17.
And yes, I’m still putting up the bunting and cracking open the Prosecco.

Obviously I love them dearly.
Obviously I’ve loved having them home.
Obviously I’m absolutely delighted they’re going back. 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only mum feeling just a tiny bit excited today?

60 years married. ❤️

Mum and Dad celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, with all three of their children together.

60 years of marriage, three children, a whole lot of life lived in between… and somehow we’re all still smiling 😂

Pretty pictures are important.
But they’re not why families come back.
These portraits are just one small part of the story. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of photographing this beautiful family together too.
The biggest compliment I can receive isn’t someone booking once.
It’s when they come back.
Because they know their child will be able to relax. Because nobody has to perform. Because the session feels more like spending an hour together than standing in front of a camera.
The photographs are simply what happens when people feel comfortable enough to be themselves.
And that’s always been the part I care about most. ❤️

17 🩷

One of my favourite kinds of days.

Both families, our honorary family from over the road, the all-important boyfriend, far too much food and the highly competitive Holmes Garden Olympics 😂

We always seem to end up playing ridiculous games when we’re all together and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So much laughter. So many people we love. And a very happy 17th birthday to our Izzy 🩷

And yes, even my iPhone photos get edited. I apparently have no off switch 😂

My parents have had this beach hut for as long as I can remember.

The faces have changed over the years, but somehow the feeling never has.

Sun, sea, sandy feet, Mum, Dad, my girls… and now Alfie, who at 17 is somehow happy to spend half the afternoon chatting with my dad.

These are the days I hope everyone gets to have.

(And yes, they still got a quick Lightroom edit. Hard habit to break 😉)

There’s just something about an evening shoot.
The light is softer, everyone relaxes, and the whole session feels that little bit more natural, which always shows in the photos.
I’ve been photographing these lovely girls since they were born, so capturing moments like this never gets old 🥹💛

I don’t use black and white because it looks “artistic”.
I use it when colour isn’t the most important part of the photograph.
When the emotion, the connection and the story deserve all of the attention.
Moments like this are exactly why I still love black and white photography.
Some photographs are about what you see.
Others are about what you feel.

This is why I always encourage families to choose an evening session if they can ☀️
The light is softer, the temperature is kinder, and everyone seems to relax a little more.
There’s no rushing, no pressure, just time to wander, chat, laugh and let moments like this unfold naturally.
And when the sun decides to put on a show like this? Well, that’s just the icing on the cake.
My remaining summer weekend availability is now very limited, but I do still have a handful of evening sessions available.
