I don’t use black and white because it looks “artistic”.
I use it when colour isn’t the most important part of the photograph.
When the emotion, the connection and the story deserve all of the attention.
Moments like this are exactly why I still love black and white photography.
Some photographs are about what you see.
Others are about what you feel.

This is why I always encourage families to choose an evening session if they can ☀️
The light is softer, the temperature is kinder, and everyone seems to relax a little more.
There’s no rushing, no pressure, just time to wander, chat, laugh and let moments like this unfold naturally.
And when the sun decides to put on a show like this? Well, that’s just the icing on the cake.
My remaining summer weekend availability is now very limited, but I do still have a handful of evening sessions available.

Golden hour really is the most beautiful time to photograph your family ✨
With the sunshine we’re getting next week, I’ve opened up a handful of mini sessions for Tuesday evening at Hylands Park.
Think warm light, relaxed moments, and letting the kids just be kids 💛
Perfect if you’ve been meaning to update your family photos but don’t need a full session.

The wisteria arch at Hylands Park is beautiful in every season. For this shoot, the bare structure created the perfect natural frame, soft, textured, and tonally balanced without taking attention away from the family. There’s something really timeless about it in its quieter state.
When the wisteria flowers, this walkway becomes a cascade of colour and creates the most magical backdrop, just like in the second image from last May.
