Totally over the moon with this freshly opened Paphiopedilum Fair Citron (P. Mishima Citron x fairrieanum semi album), a Michael Tibbs hybrid registered in 2024.

As a fairrieanum fan, I love that there's plenty of this species characteristics on show, and it's a fairly large & majestic flower too!

A very enjoyable afternoon photographing the blooms, veg, jams, cakes, crafts and many green fingered folk of Chalfont St Peter at the Chalfont St Peter Garden Club Summer Show.

Lovely catching up with lots of familiar faces and eating too much delicious cake. Thanks to all of those who happily posed looking interestingly at flowers and vegetables!

This is the second time I've visited the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground. The first time was 26 years ago when the park first opened (I visited as a young newly qualified landscape architect with Groundwork). This time, photographing the newly renovated playground for the very talented team at landscape contractors Ground Control. The play area was reopened to a very excited public on Wednesday. There's no doubt it'll be hugely popular.

For a short time during the shoot, I had the whole place to myself. Really regretting not going down the big slide before it being opened to the whole world.

Exciting to have a Paphiopedilum rothschildianum (the king of orchids, so they say!) gracing my greenhouse this July, especially with 4 flowers!

However, I'm hoping for better next time it flowers. As this spike was developing, the UK witnessed a prolonged heat wave, and I battled to keep the temperature in the greenhouse below 30 degrees for 5 or 6 days on the trot. The battle started just as I spotted the bud, and with just two weeks, the spike shot up at lightening speed and first flower had fully opened. Flowers 2, 3 and 4 soon followed over the course of the next two weeks.

Although the flowers in my opinion have a nice shape and lovely deep coloured pouch, each and everyone has either a deformity or noticeable colour breaks on the underside of the pouches.

To give this plant the best chance of growing as much as possible during the remainder of the summer, I cut the flower spike soon after taking the photo (something i always struggle to do). However, it's sitting on a small vase in the kitchen where I'll enjoy seeing it when I'm washing up over the next few days.

A very welcome visitor to the front garden this evening. The salvia is one of the few plants in the garden that doesn't mind this hot dry weather... and this sweet little hummingbird hawkmoth enjoyed a well deserved drink of nectar.

This time of year, I’m travelling to London 2 or 3 times a week for photography jobs, catching the train from Gerrards Cross at varying times of the day. There’s a strip of ‘wild’ land behind Platform 1, covered with native wildflowers and scrub including elderflower and lots of buddleja (commonly known as the butterfly bush.

I normally arrive 10/15 minute before the train arrives, allowing me time to have a look at the ‘wild’ land to see what wildlife GX station has to offer that day. The area is managed by a local group, and I believe from the signage, is sponsored by Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust - BBOWT.

If you take the time to look, it’s absolutely bursting with insects and birds. Just this morning within 10 minutes (to the soundtrack of many many grasshoppers) I saw 2 hummingbird hawk moths, many butterflies including 4 painted lady, a common blue, 2 meadow brown, 2 gatekeeper, 3 red admiral, and 3 whites. There were also 2 blackcap birds darting between shrubs.

It may not be much to look at, and it’s all a bit parched given the warm dry weather we’ve had, but this is an amazing and valuable haven for wildlife. We need more spaces like this around GX and Chalfont St Peter.

Thank you to all involved for making my commute all the more enjoyable.

A few shots taken at a wonderfully intimate party last weekend to celebrate the lovely Gillian & Kevan's wedding anniversary. Thank you to you both, your families and your close friends for making me feel so welcome. And thank you for inviting me to join the celebrations at the end of the evening. The port and cigar were both very much appreciated! The hangover not so much!

I always look forward to photographing the annual Peabody Charity Dragon Boat Racing day at Surrey Docks Watersports Centre. Certainly no shortage of photo opportunities! Smiley (and hugely competitive) folk, perfect weather and a jaw-droppingly stunning backdrop for good measure.

It's no secret that Vinny & Ted in Chalfont St Peter is my favourite place in the village to lose an hour or two with a cold pint of something tasty recommended by beer guru Martin.

So when I was asked to photograph the super friendly teams, clubs and entertainment at both venues in CSP and Beaconsfield, I obviously jumped at the chance.

Thanks to all involved... you look fab. Looking forward to seeing these photos, along with many others on your website and social media pages sometime soon.

And by the way, if you weren't aware, this weekend, the Beaconsfield bar celebrates its 1st anniversary. For details, click on the link below.

So happy to be asked to play a small role in a very significant project for our village. Today, the fantastic new skate park was officially opened in Chalfont St Peter. How amazing to see so many people having fun in the sun! Looking forward to buying myself a skateboard and learning the odd trick or two... not.
