Is this the end of SM Droneography on Facebook? 💔
I genuinely don't know where I go from here.
Since May, I've been dealing with one Facebook problem after another. Then my account was accessed without my permission, and things have gone from bad to worse.
This isn't just the odd Facebook glitch anymore.
I've stopped receiving payments from Meta.
I can't access groups properly.
I can't share posts.
Features I've always had access to have disappeared or been restricted.
And the list just keeps growing.
Yet Facebook's own screens currently tell me “No restrictions” and “No violations”, while Meta's support system tells me there IS a restriction affecting my personal account and SM Droneography.
And here's the crazy part...
SM Droneography is STILL getting 2+ MILLION views a month while I'm dealing with these restrictions.
Without them, who knows how many people my photography could be reaching?
I've built this page over many years to more than 17,000 amazing followers. Thousands of hours have gone into travelling, flying, photographing, editing and sharing places across Wales and beyond with you guys.
And lately, Facebook is taking the fun out of sharing my work with you — my amazing followers.
That's the bit I hate.
I used to love capturing something, getting home to edit it and looking forward to showing you all. Seeing your reactions, reading the comments, watching you tag your friends and seeing millions of people discover my photography is a huge part of why I do this.
Now I'm constantly wondering what Facebook is going to restrict next.
And trying to get help is unbelievable.
I can't phone anyone.
I can't email anyone who can actually deal with my account.
I can't get through to a human.
Everything leads back to AI support.
The AI tells me my problem requires a human specialist. It tries to transfer me... then tells me they're at full capacity and to come back another day.
Again. And again. And again.
I'm effectively locked out of the support I need to fix the restrictions I'm already locked into.
And there's another side to this which means far more to me than followers, views or money.
My personal Facebook contains years and years of family photographs and memories.
My children growing up. Birthdays. Holidays. Family days out. Moments I'd completely forgotten about until Facebook shows them to me again.
Those memories pop up every day and genuinely put a smile on my face.
Today I even tried Facebook's own system to export everything, just so I could make sure those memories were safe.
Even that isn't working.
Followers and views could eventually be rebuilt.
Years of family memories can't.
And this is where I honestly don't know what to do next.
Do I carry on?
Do I keep fighting Meta and trying to get somebody — anybody — to properly look at what's happened?
Or do I accept that I might never get an answer and start rebuilding everything from scratch?
Starting again isn't as simple as creating another SM Droneography page.
I'd potentially have to establish a new legitimate personal Facebook account first and then rebuild SM Droneography around it. I also have to be extremely careful about Facebook's rules around multiple personal accounts, because the last thing I need is another account problem.
That could ultimately mean having to walk away from the personal Facebook I've had for years as well as rebuilding SM Droneography from zero.
And look at what I'd be leaving behind:
17,000+ followers.
2+ MILLION views a month.
Years of photography.
Years of family memories.
All because I can't seem to get a human being at Meta to properly look at what's happened.
I feel completely shafted by Meta.
So I'm asking you guys.
Do I keep fighting to get an answer and try to save what I've spent years building?
Or is there a point where I have to accept defeat and start again?
Because right now, I genuinely don't know.
To every single one of you who follows, comments, shares and supports my work — thank you. ❤️
You're the reason I'm finding it so difficult to walk away.
Should I carry on? ❤️
