If you or someone you know would like to learn dressmaking, I am teaching a new course at Cambridge Regional college every monday morning starting in January 2015.
CRC’s very own Sewing Bee! This basic course, suitable for beginners and those with some experience, is taught over three terms to cover the core skills in garment construction. Depending on students’ individual pace and progression, one or more garments will be produced per term.
Term 1
Learn to follow commercial sewing patterns, using basic clothes-making techniques such as seams, hems and closures, pockets etc.; take accurate measurements and achieve correct fitting using a toile.
Terms 2 & 3
Building on basic skills, learn more advanced techniques such as simple pattern drafting, placing a concealed zip, sewing a placket, boning, and the use of more challenging fabrics.
