The Nilgiri keelback (Sahyadriophis beddomei), also known commonly as Beddome's keelback, is a species of snake found in the Western Ghats in India.This snake is terrestrial and feeds on toads
It is a medium-sized snake that is usually found in 40-50cm range. Its body is moderately thick and covered with keeled scales. Its dorsal ground colour is variable according to age, usually dark brown or blackish-brown with two discontinuous series of yellow or off-white patches along the body, which are intersected by black bands. Most of the specimens bear light sky blue or whitish interscale colour, which is best visible when the snake is provoked. Two bold black streaks, one below and one behind the eyes are found in all specimens. Its snout is brownish and the posterior top of the head bears brown-white crown that is faint in adults.
