Bindweed as wrapped twining around ribwort plantain stems.
❇️
I've had bundles of bindweed stems drying for a while and have been eagerly awaiting their readiness so I could have a play around with them. Turns out, it's the perfect material for all sorts of weaving purposes, and I love love love how it looks here around the plantain stems - both materials shining with a surprising array of colours and tones.

My response to finding lots of bindweed in a garden has very quickly shifted from dread to glee - a recent juicy crop on slide 3.

My hands were kept busy at yesterday's BS4 Makers Market, coiling this basket from dried daffodil foliage cordage 🌼 now it's found a spot atop the kitchen dresser until it goes for sale at the next market!

Mega thanks again to Naomi Evans for bringing this new local market to life - there was such a lovely feel to the event yesterday, with workshops and craft activities going on all day, within the relaxed atmosphere of the beautiful hall of St Cuthbert's Church. And so many friendly and talented makers!!

Something a little different - I have got VERY into working with plant fibres lately, primarily making cordage and coiling baskets. Every plant is now seen through the lens of whether it could be dried and twisted into some kind of cordage!
Pictured is cordage made from: 1) dandelion flower stems (all those colours!!!), 2) nasturtium stems, 3) Siberian iris foliage, and 4) daffodil foliage.
My original bolt of inspiration came from receiving Alice Fox 's book for Christmas (thank you !!) which I found truly astonishing and I was immediately utterly transfixed by the idea of making all sorts of things from plant fibres. Lots more to come!!

Well what a gorgeous weekend that was. Thank you so much to everyone who came down for a chat and to make a purchase over the course of this year's bs4artstrail ! I had so many lovely conversations with people about beautiful landscapes in our local area and beyond. Thank you to Eva and Paul at The Langton Bristol | Community Pub in St. Anne's 📍BS4 for hosting us, and to all the other makers and stallholders who made it such a friendly and fun weekend 🌟
