Today is Digital March day for ………

Art is essential to the development of young people and providing us with the next generation of artist, musicians, designers, photographers and many more in the creative industries. Having worked in art education for over 15 years I have seen how art has enabled many talented young people develop important skills from problem solving skills, digital skills, understanding and commenting on the world they live in and how they navigate it and much more.

Under the governments proposed 50% cuts to HE art courses many young people from low income and minority backgrounds will be greatly hindered in continuing there arts education and providing us with the next generation of creatives. We consume art and culture every day in many different ways and without this next generation of creatives society could become a very different place.

The examples shown here are a selection of student’s photography work that I have had the pleasure to work with over the years. All of these students have gone onto continue their creative journeys at HE. Under the proposals these students would not be able to continue this journey and the provisions, courses and support available to them would be greatly reduced! Act now, art should be for all, not just the privileged!
