When the year started I don’t think any of us expected it to be one of the most
challenging of our lives. Although 2020 has not been the year any of us were expecting, a lot of good & awareness has come out of it. Its shown me what’s important and I have made decisions to make my life happier because quite frankly - life’s too short.
Although my exhibitions were put on hold this year I was honoured to be selected as part of The 2020 Vision Project, which consisted of 100 photographers from across the U.K. selected to capture portraits of our NHS staff & health care workers. I photographed a junior doctor & midwife & in August I received news that my portrait of wonderful midwife Emily Paul was to be featured in the exhibition.
It was amazing to have my image on display at St Ethelburga's Centre & Events Venue in Bishopsgate, this project felt so important & gave me valuable insight into the sacrifice that our NHS & health workers have made, & continue to make.
These portraits were about showing the heroes behind the mask, the people risking their lives to save others & doing so without question. What an experience, rewarding, harrowing, humbling, I am in awe.
Here’s a link to the digital exhibition live from 23rd-27th December
Never has there been such a collaboration of photographers who've taken the time to capture the amazing people who have dedicated their lives to service during such an intense period of time.
