Yesterday on a brief stroll at lunchtime I was lucky enough to spend a few minutes no more than 5 metres or so from this little treecreeper going about its business. Wonderful to watch, and the closest encounter I’ve had with this gorgeous bird!

This great spotted woodpecker was very obliging in its posing and positioning yesterday! As always, I was alerted to its presence from the sound of hammering beak on bark, and from there was able to quickly spot it.

Absolutely delighted with the results of my Nikon 200-500mm lens too; it makes a real difference for shots like this.

This evening I went for a walk in the hope of capturing a spectacular sunset after a sunny day. Instead, what I found was the heat being completely gone, bringing with it a descending mist and frost which had touched the ground already in places.

Lovely, if wet, day out at WWT Arundel yesterday. The photographic highlight was definitely this kestrel hunting from a perch in the high winds and rain. Seen on the boat safari, on which we also saw a Kingfisher very briefly!

From a walk to Hove beach at lunchtime today. A beautifully still sky, and a pretty choppy sea. Some beach huts not from the usual angle as well.

Lucky from Pressure Drop Brewing is the last to go from the selection crate I picked up from the excellent The Fuss Club and it's a fitting finale. It's Pressure Drop, it's a NEIPA, so there isn't much more to be said of the beer's quality but I will - this is a dank simcoe treat with a huge mouthfeel, balancing juice, umami savoury edge and quaffability to perfection. Jackpot!

Off With Their Heads - Home & Be Good

These are two superb raucous punk rock albums by a great band; packed with energy, killer riffs and meaningful lyrics they're ones you should check out if you aren't aware already! Their show in London last year was one of the most memorably chaotic I'd been to in a long time as well

Today's trip out has a slightly different focus to previous ones to Woods Mill; today was all about dragonflies!

Very happy with the first image of a migrant hawker in flight, then some other nice pics of darters and what I think was some sort of emerald.
