Sharp Tor has held a special place in this couples love story, and now become so much more special.

This scenic moorland tor is where vows were exchanged, and now is where they told their little boy that he was going to become a big brother 💕

It was so much fun being able to capture this pregnancy announcement and moments of pure love and joy before this family of 3 becomes 4.

“This time of year isn’t good for anything”.
It’s cold, rains all the time and it’s still so dark.

BUT what January and February are good for is cosy at home sessions. Capturing the long days spent hibernating at home. The scattered toys on the floor being a reminder of the hours spent playing and the life that flourishes in your home.

Don’t be afraid to let your photos show the chaos that’s taken residence. One day you’ll long to have it all back. One day all you’ll have are the memories and the photos that transport you back there ✨

Slow mornings spent watching the rain, baking brownies and card games by the fire will one day be some of your most treasured memories.

Photographs don’t have to be taken outside to be beautiful. At a location you’ve never been to before and has no meaning to you or your family. They can be taken in the comfort of your home, the place where so many hours are spent making memories together and the place your kids feel safest.

You might not think that your house is big enough, dressed nice enough or tidy enough to be in your photos. But there’s not a more perfect place to remember ✨

I’m not sure any period of time is as fleeting but feels as long as life with a newborn?

You can spend hours just holding them, smelling them, cuddling them. Desperate for some time alone and sleep but not wanting to put them down for a minute.

They don’t stay this little for long and before you know it, you’ll be chasing around a toddler desperately trying to remember the days when you first got to hold your baby.

POV: You turn up to shoot an at home session, that turns into an impromptu home studio.

This mum to a 3 year old and twin 9 month old babies (super mum right?!) is also in the process of moving into this house! There was barely any furniture or personal items, just the essentials for the kids. 🏠

While it didn’t feel like we were getting to capture much of their home life or a sense of who they are as a family, in a way I think we did.

We got to capture this transitional moment in their lives. Where the quiet empty rooms tell a story of this chaotic time of life.

I feel that this session really shows how any time is a good time to photograph your family. Any moment of your family’s story is worth telling. ✨

If parenthood teaches you one thing, it’s that things don’t always go to plan and sometimes you have to go with the flow and trust that things will turn out okay.

We planned this beach season for a different day but ode to the British weather, we scrambled together to bring this session forward.

Oh my goodness did it pay off. The winter lighting was phenomenal. So soft and beautiful. A gorgeous example that despite the January blues, winter can still host a magical session ✨

Don’t keep putting off documenting your story for a ‘better season’ because every season brings its own kind of beauty 💕

Can anything help you to bottle up that sweet newborn smell? To remember how small their little scrunched up body is on your chest? The little grungy noises they make when they are feeding?

Being invited into your home is truly an honour. A chance to capture some of the newborn bubble that you’re in. No matter how many times you move house or how many years go by, a picture has the power to take you right back to this moment. To a time when the world stood still and nothing else mattered.

You’ve been through so much to get to this moment, it deserves more than a selfie to remember it by.

I’ll be honest. Woodland shoots have scared me a little lately with their lack of light and busy textured backgrounds which can make it challenging to photograph. But this session was pure magic! ✨ The colours, the moody vibe but most importantly this mother and daughter duo 🍂

We had so much fun capturing the cuddles, the playfulness and what it is to simultaneously be a seasoned and expectant mother.

This session was planned last minute, seizing the moment. Your photos don’t have to be overly planned with months of outfit planning and stress. What seems ordinary to you, will make extraordinary photos just simply by being you.

Have you ever thought about what life will look like in 40 years time? 💭

What your children will look like? 💭
What memories they will hold on to? 💭
How it’s going to feel when you revisit the beach where you once used to chase the tide together? 💭

Motherhood can be hard. It can feel impossible at times; constantly feeling that you could do better. But then you look at photos like these and see the love and connection share with your child. And remember that to them, you are enough 💕

In 40 years time, you look back and see a photo of plaiting your daughter’s hair and remember all the times you wrestled with her to stay still as you frantically tie the hairband before she got away.
You see the picture of spinning her around and suddenly you can hear her adorable innocent laugh again.
You see the photo of the two of you watching the waves together, and remember what her tiny hand in yours feelt like.

Remembering the everyday moments are just as important and remembering the landmark ones. Don’t wait for the ‘perfect time’ or the ‘perfect age’. If you’re thinking about having a motherhood or family photoshoot, let’s do it. There’s no such thing as having too many photos to look back at. You won’t regret being able to remember the time now. ✨
