Have you ever wondered why some photographs stay with you long after you’ve taken them?
This Saturday I’m running a relaxed, two-hour photography workshop at The Old Library in Bodmin called The Art of Storytelling.
It’s not about expensive cameras or complicated settings. It’s about learning to see differently and creating photographs that capture a moment, an emotion or a story.
Whether you use a DSLR, mirrorless camera or simply your phone, you’ll be very welcome.
The feedback from my first workshop was incredibly encouraging, with attendees saying it helped build their confidence and changed the way they looked at photography.
If you’ve been thinking about taking your photography a little further, I’d love you to join me.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to my photography workshop on Saturday, which coincided with Heritage Day.

It was a lovely day exploring the streets together, learning to see everyday scenes in a different way and capturing the atmosphere through our cameras. Thank you, too, for all your kind feedback – it really means a lot.

Tomorrow morning I'll be running my first 'Seeing Like a Photographer' workshop at The Old Library as part of Heritage Day.

Photography has taken me from Cornwall to North Norway and Afghanistan, as well as work in places like Nepal. But over time I’ve realised the most powerful images aren’t about where you are—they’re about how you see.

This workshop isn't about complicated camera settings. It's about learning to notice light, moments and stories, and helping you come away with photographs that say something.

We'll spend time looking at examples, followed by a practical photo walk around the Heritage Day celebrations.

Beginners and intermediate photographers are very welcome – whether you use a DSLR, mirrorless camera or simply your phone.

A search for the best places in Cornwall led to this, my photograph appearing as the image for Tintagel Castle.

Taken at dawn in 2015, I was given early access before public opening, allowing a rare early morning view of the island.

Complete stillness – just the ruins, the sea, and first light.

This image formed part of a commissioned series for Malcolm Reading Consultants on behalf of English Heritage, created to help inform and inspire the design of the new footbridge.

Always interesting to see commissioned work resurface online years later in unexpected ways.
