Photography Bingo, old tunnels, and litter pickers
19th Feb 2025
We were delighted to welcome new members Debs and Danielle this week as we embarked on Session II of our Hawes Side project. Participants were provided with cameras to use throughout the session and were assured that no prior experience was necessary. The focus was on capturing something of their surroundings, discovering interesting light, and connecting with both their environment and each other.
Starting with an important brew, we began our gentle walk up Halton Gardens to Pavey Close and then continued through the old train tunnel embedded beneath Yeadon Way. We meandered through the enchanting expanse of Bridge Farm Recreation Field, seizing snapshots of litter pickers and dog walkers with their canine companions in tow. With a delightful photography bingo prompt sheet in hand, we embarked on a quest to capture the essence of wildlife, vibrant hues, and intriguing shapes, and sought to capture images both high and low.
As benches were lovingly cleaned upon the field by Mary and her team, the chill nipped at us, yet we found solace in the treasured warmth of a comforting brew, concluding our delightful exploration.
Visions of majestic horses, timeless cars, and streams adorned with nature's remnants were captured. The tunnel illuminated a splendid canvas for portraits, while the first snowdrops of the season emerged, heralding the promise of Spring's gentle arrival.
This session saw Councillor Neal Brookes himself wielding a camera, eager to immortalize the beauty of his cherished Hawes Side. It was so lovely to host our last Photography Walk with you all in Hawes Side. Here are a few of our favourites.
