I was really delighted to receive this photo yesterday, as we see one of the best Derry & Bellaghy supporters, Wee Tommy Donnelly, who earlier this year was involved in a very bad road traffic accident, in which Tommy was lucky to survive and spent many weeks in hospital. And it's not often a family get to have a photo of five generations of their family together, taken at the christen of Tommy's Great-Great-Grandson.
We have 2nd on the left Wee Tommy Donnelly, with his son Brendan Donnelly 1st right, his granddaughter Charlene Neeson (nee Donnelly) 2nd right, his great grandson Patrick Neeson 1st left and the wee man of the moment his great great grandson Connlaith Cathal Neeson, the Neeson family live in Randalstown.

We go back just over 60 years ago to the 21st April 1966 and the opening of the new county Primary school in Bellaghy by Mr. R A Brown OBE JP. All who attended the opening, got a tour of the new school, watch their children getting lessons and all the new school had to offer, finishing up with afternoon tea.
We see primary 5 pupil Andrew Mulholland pointing out Canada on the globe during a geography lesson with David Campbell & Jennifer Evens looking on.
Do you remember the school opening ?

POP remembers Paul McIlvenna late of Garvaghy road, Portglenone who passed away on this date 13 years ago (2013). Paul worked around home before going to England, where he worked in and around some of the major airports over there. Paul was a real character who had a great interest in local history and if you asked him something he was full of facts. We see Paul with his wife Sue's late parents and her late aunt Roberta, before Paul moved back to Ireland him and Sue lived with them.
POP has Paul's wife Sue, his brothers Terence, Dermot, Jerome, his sisters Moya, Bronagh, Brenda, his Nephews & Nieces and he entire McIlvenna family in our thoughts and prayers. We also have Paul's late parents Sarah & Felix, his late sister Claire in our prayers too.

May Paul Rest in Peace

Here's another photo that colour has been added to, in some cases the hair colour and other features may be slightly different as the AI tool try's to sharpen and add colour to the photo, good tool to sharpen up bad photo's.

POP remembers Seamus Doherty late of Eagle Lodge, Ballinasloe and formerly Cloughmills / Dunloy who passed away on this date 5 years ago (2021). Seamus made Ballinasloe his home and business base for over five decades, after leaving his beloved Co Antrim. Seamus was a force for good in the Ballinasloe community. As an astute business man - he pioneered his plant and tool hire business across sites in Athlone and Roscommon. Seamus had many friends in Co Antrim from the Traditional music circles to Horsey men, with the late Jim Glass, Sammy Smyth, Brian Quinn and John Kennedy all staying in his home over the years. When I was down as Chairman of Portglenone CCE branch back in 1991 in Ballinasloe myself and other members of the branch stayed in Eagle Lodge the home of Seamus and his late wife Bridie Doherty, and we where given first class hospitality over the weekend.
POP has Seamus's sons Colin, Eamon, Aidan, Maurice, his daughter Anne-Marie, his sister Mary from Dunloy, his Grandchildren and the entire Doherty Families in Ballinasloe, Cloughmills and Dunloy in our thoughts and prayers today.
POP also has Seamus's deceased family members in our prayers too.

May Seamus Rest in Peace.
