Photography Workshop: Image Stacking or Macro
Join us this Thursday for a focused session on tabletop photography! This week, we're giving you the choice to practice one of two fantastic techniques:
1. Image Stacking: Great for maximizing depth of field in close-up shots.
2. Macro Photography: Sharpen your skills in capturing incredible detail and texture up close.
Please bring all your gear so you're ready to shoot!
• Your camera and tripod
• Small items you'd like to photograph (get creative!)
• Any backdrops or lighting you plan to use
This is a great chance to work on your technical skills in a fun, practical environment. See you Thursday!

I can’t think of a more worthy way of getting your work recognised!!

Photographers from across Tameside and Glossop are being invited to take part in a heartwarming community project to support people living with dementia.

Tameside and Glossop NHS Charity , in partnership with the Tameside Reporter, is calling on both amateur and professional photographers to submit original images of beloved local landmarks. Selected photos will be proudly displayed on dementia wards at Tameside Hospital, helping to create a more comforting and familiar environment for patients.

For individuals living with dementia, being admitted to hospital can be a disorientating and distressing experience. Unfamiliar surroundings often increase confusion and anxiety.

However, small changes - such as placing photos of recognisable locations on the walls - can make a big difference. Familiar imagery can spark memories, reduce agitation, and promote a sense of safety and belonging during a patient’s stay.

The team is asking local residents to share original photographs of the following nine landmarks, chosen to reflect the rich beauty and history of the local area:

Werneth Low Country Park – Hyde

Ashton Market – Ashton

Fairfield Moravian Settlement – Droylsden

Stalybridge Town Hall – Stalybridge

Hartshead Pike – Mossley

Market Street fountains – Denton

Dinting Viaduct – Glossop

Manor Park – Glossop

Old Chapel – Dukinfield

Photographers are welcome to submit more than one image, and can send entries for as many of the locations as they like. All submitted photos must be original and taken by the person submitting them. Images sourced from the internet or archives cannot be accepted.

To enter your photos for consideration, simply fill out the form on the official website of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust: https://www.tamesideandglossopicft.nhs.uk/news-and-events/events/dementia-photography-project

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday, October 3rd 2025.

Selected images will be printed and displayed throughout dementia wards in the hospital, with full credit given to the photographers whose work is chosen.
