Rev Tom Collation (part 2)

Another of my aims for the evening was to be unobtrusive. After all, it was a church service not a photo shoot. So no posing for the camera, no offering direction or wandering around at the front. Instead a lot of hiding behind pillars and walking slowly which, remarkably, seems to render one invisible!

Thanks to everyone at St George's and the opportunity to be involved in something rather special.

Rev Tom Collation (part 1)

I was honoured to be asked to photograph the collation (aka welcoming and installation) of the new rector at our parish church. A dramatic service of ritual, personal moments and contrasts. My aim was to capture the story of the evening - from quiet anticipation through focused ceremony to noisy chatter - as well as the personalities - excitable bishop, nervous then relieved new rector, welcoming congregation.
