📊 WEEKLY MARKET UPDATE (NI)

Week Ending: 13 June 2026

🐄 CATTLE MARKET

Prime Cattle (Non-Premium)

• R3 Steers: 581.8p/kg ⬇️ 1.5p
• O+3 Steers: 574.5p/kg ⬇️ 4.5p
• R3 Heifers: 580.7p/kg ⬇️ 2.8p
• O+3 Heifers: 574.2p/kg ⬇️ 4.8p

👉 Steers and heifers came under a little pressure again this week, although the declines remain relatively modest. After several weeks of correction, the trade appears to be moving sideways rather than seeing any major shift in either direction.

Young Bulls

• R3 Young Bulls: 575.0p/kg ⬆️ 2.7p
• O+3 Young Bulls: 568.5p/kg ⬆️ 4.1p

👉 Young bulls were the bright spot this week, recording gains across the key grades and recovering some of the ground lost during recent weeks.

Overall Averages

• Steers Average: 583.0p/kg ⬆️ 0.7p
• Heifers Average: 583.6p/kg ⬆️ 0.2p
• Young Bulls Average: 568.0p/kg ⬆️ 1.4p

👉 Overall averages edged upwards for all three categories, suggesting the wider cattle trade may finally be stabilising after the sustained easing seen through May and early June.

🐑 SHEEP MARKET

Spring Lambs (Liveweight)

• Omagh: 768–815p/kg
• Swatragh: 790–855p/kg
• Kilrea: 784–861p/kg
• Markethill: 750–851p/kg
• Saintfield: 772–850p/kg
• Rathfriland: 760–816p/kg

• Top reported price: 861p/kg at Kilrea

👉 Lamb trade remains solid, although prices have eased slightly compared to the stronger returns seen a few weeks ago. Good-quality lambs continue to attract strong competition across local marts.

Deadweight Quotes

• R3 Lamb (21 & 21.5kg): 850p/kg ⬇️ 10p

👉 Factory quotes slipped back this week, reflecting slightly easier conditions in the sheep trade compared to the strong demand seen earlier in the season.

Overall, this week’s figures suggest the beef trade may be finding a level, with average cattle prices edging upwards again. Meanwhile, the sheep trade remains healthy, although both live and factory prices have eased slightly from recent highs.

📊 WEEKLY MARKET UPDATE (NI)

Week Ending: 06 June 2026

🐄 CATTLE MARKET

Prime Cattle (Non-Premium)

• R3 Steers: 583.3p/kg ⬇️ 1.6p
• O+3 Steers: 579.0p/kg ⬆️ 2.9p
• R3 Heifers: 583.5p/kg ⬆️ 0.6p
• O+3 Heifers: 579.0p/kg ⬆️ 2.3p

👉 After several weeks of declines, parts of the beef trade showed signs of stabilising this week. Heifers improved across key grades, while O+3 steers also moved back into positive territory. Although the gains are modest, it is the first indication for a number of weeks that the downward pressure may be easing.

Young Bulls

• R3 Young Bulls: 572.3p/kg ⬇️ 1.8p
• O+3 Young Bulls: 564.4p/kg ⬇️ 4.5p

👉 Young bulls remain the weakest part of the trade, with prices continuing to edge backwards while steer and heifer prices begin to find support.

Overall Averages

• Steers Average: 582.3p/kg ⬇️ 3.6p
• Heifers Average: 583.4p/kg ⬇️ 2.5p
• Young Bulls Average: 566.7p/kg ⬇️ 2.0p

👉 Average prices remain slightly back on the week, however the rate of decline continues to slow and several grades are now showing signs of recovery after the recent correction.

🐑 SHEEP MARKET

Spring Lambs (Liveweight)

• Omagh: 795–901p/kg
• Swatragh: 833–887p/kg
• Kilrea: 864–942p/kg
• Markethill: 840–906p/kg
• Saintfield: 835–900p/kg
• Rathfriland: 830–875p/kg

• Top reported price: 942p/kg at Kilrea

👉 Live lamb trade remains very strong across Northern Ireland, with several marts reporting top prices around or above the 900p/kg mark. Demand for quality lambs continues to hold well.

Deadweight Quotes

• R3 Lamb (21kg): 860p/kg ⬆️ 10p

👉 Factory quotes improved slightly this week, reflecting continued confidence in the lamb trade and helping support strong returns across both live and deadweight outlets.

Overall, this week’s report suggests the beef trade may finally be finding a floor after several weeks of easing prices, while the spring lamb trade continues to perform strongly across the province 👏

Do you think we’ve seen the bottom of the beef trade now, or is there still another few pence to come off before things settle? 👇
