A few years ago I walked away from the boardroom and chose a very different path.

I built Amanda Jayne Bird Photography from the ground up. Not with algorithms or artificial intelligence, but with a camera, determination, and a lot of hard work.

Since then I’ve stood in snow, rain, wind and freezing temperatures. I’ve set alarms for ridiculous o’clock to catch a sunrise. I’ve driven miles for a photograph that sometimes never happened because the light didn’t cooperate.

I’ve spent years learning my craft and countless hours editing, printing, framing and standing on market stalls sharing my work with the public.

So when someone walks past, glances at a photograph and says, “That’s AI,” I’ll be honest, it stings.

Not because AI exists. It does, and that’s a conversation for another day.

It stings because those two letters instantly dismiss the years of effort, experience and passion behind the photograph.

Every image on my stall was taken by me. Real places. Real moments. Real weather. Real photography.

You don’t have to like every photograph I create. That’s perfectly fine. But please don’t assume that because a photograph is colourful, dramatic or beautiful, it must have been made by a computer.

Sometimes it’s just the result of being in the right place, after years of learning how to see it.

To everyone who has supported my small business, bought a print, shared a post or simply stopped for a chat at a market, thank you. It means more than you know.

Due to rising production costs, I won’t be producing a 2027 calendar this year. I can’t compete with the AI produced calendars you can buy on the high street for a couple of pounds. Christmas cards coming soon.

From corporate boardrooms to cosy living rooms, holiday homes to treasured family spaces, I’ve got you covered.

I’m at Alnwick Market today with a collection of photography celebrating the very best of Northumberland & The North East. From castles, beaches and rolling hills to the Angel of the North, Durham Cathedral, Hadrian’s Wall and iconic coastal views.

Whether you’re looking for a statement piece for an office, a finishing touch for your home, or a photograph that brings back a special memory, there’s something for every wall.

A quiet path through the trees.

Soft morning mist, warm tones beneath the trees, and that feeling of stepping away from the noise of the world for a while.

Woodland photography has a way of slowing everything down. No dramatic mountains, no crashing waves—just light, texture and atmosphere.

One of my latest additions to the portfolio, capturing the calm and beauty hidden amongst the trees.

This week, I’ve been reminded that people rarely buy a photograph because it’s just a beautiful picture.

They buy a memory.

A place where they walked their dog for the very last time before they crossed the rainbow bridge.

A coastline where they recently scattered a loved one’s ashes.

The spot where they first met the person who changed their life.

The church, castle, beach or village where they said “I do”.

Every photograph on my stall means something different to the person standing in front of it. What hangs on their wall isn’t just a landscape of Northumberland – it’s a moment, a memory, a story they never want to forget.

As a photographer, it’s a privilege to hear those stories and know that my work helps keep those memories alive every single day.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me this week. ♥️

I can’t recommend NBNE Print & Sign enough.
The team took my own design and turned into into something eye catching. It’s getting lots of attention on my stall and has resulted in sales.

💯great design service
💯great communication
💯in budget
💯good quality
💯quick turn around

I honestly can’t fault anything, highly recommended by me.

Amanda came to us with an initial concept for a banner design. We loved taking her design and turning it into something that could be printed a large size, outdoor banner.

If you have an idea for how you want your banner to look, it's fine to use AI to create a design. Just be aware that often these will need to be redesigned for printing and won't always look the same. In this case, we think Amanda Jayne Bird Art's final design looks great and she is really happy with it.

It's a great way to attract footfall to your stall and add in your contact details too.
