Carla and her family came into the studio before baby arrived and we created the most beautiful maternity gallery together.

When you're pregnant, it can feel like the weeks drag by. Then suddenly your baby is here and that chapter is over in the blink of an eye.

Maternity photos aren't just about your bump. They're about capturing the excitement, the connection and the memories of this time before your family grows.

Oh the expressions!

So at this point in a newborn session I've normally done the naked baby posing and your baby can start to wake up so I love capturing this as we normally get yawns or sneezing, eye contact and if we're lucky a smile.

This all adds to a beautiful gallery and you end up with a mix of poses sleeping images and more natural awake images.

Do I need to bring anything along to my maternity session?

This is a question I get asked a lot and in short the answer is NO.

I have a full wardrobe of maternity gowns, fabrics and accessories that you can use. However if you have something of your own that you want to bring along to be photographed in I encourage you to do so. I love incorporating personal items making your maternity session unique to you!

If your due in the next couple of months I still have some summer availability, you can drop me a message or even a whatsapp to ask me questions about getting booked in.

Are you expecting and considering booking a newborn session?

You're probably wondering what actually happens during a newborn photoshoot and how on earth to prepare for it.

The truth is there is no preparation required! You just turn up to my home studio in Portlethen and I take care of the rest whilst you sit back and relax.

During the session, I gently pose your baby into poses like this one. I normally start off with these, then wrap your baby in fabric for those cute swaddled poses, and then I'll do your family images at the end. For these i guide you every step of the way. You don’t need to know how to pose as I will do this for you.

It's actually a very calm experience, no rushing at all and all done with your baby's comfort in mind.

Those first few days with your new baby are the most precious in the world.

They also come with sleepless nights, exhaustion, our bodies recovering, and our hormones all over the place.

For some of my families, their newborn session is the first time they have left the comfort of their own home. That's why I want you to feel completely comfortable and relaxed from the moment you arrive.

There is no preparation required. You just need to turn up, and I will take care of the rest for you.

You'll find your session is a very calm, relaxed experience for both you and your baby.
