On may. 5, I opened the next stop of my exhibition Rendez-vous in Vienna, this time in Krakow, Poland, which was a little “coming back home” moment for me as my family has roots back to the region.
The original exhibit was developed by Danielle Spera and Astrid Peterle for the Jüdisches Museum Wien, and has since been taken under the umbrella of the Austrian Cultural Forum, and travelled to 8 countries.
Many thanks go here to Thomas Kloiber for suggesting, coordinating and organising and to the current team of the Jewish Museum Vienna, Director Barbara Staudinger and Commercial Manager Josef Gaschnitz for their ongoing support.
My deepest thanks go to Konsulat Generalny Austrii / Österreichisches Generalkonsulat Krakau Consul General to Austria Martin Gärtner and his wife Majlinda Çullhaj for bringing me, and the exhibit to Krakow, and hosting me at their residence. My extended thanks to Mr. Ambassador to Austria, his excellency Andreas Stadlerfor his touching opening speech, and his wife Olga Kuczaba-Stadler.
Last but not least, the exhibition was brilliantly adapted by deputy director of the Żydowskie Muzeum Galicja, Tomek Strug, and curators Jagoda Wojcicka and Kinga Banasik, under the direction of Jacek Stawiski.
The exhibition is on display at the Galicia Jewish Museum until September 30th, 2025. It will then travel got Madrid, Spain.
There will be a panel discussion with talented polish photographer Agnieszka Traczewska and myself about our very different paths and accesses to what, a first seems like a similar topic: local jewish communities in Poland and Austria. The talk will take place during the Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow, on Friday June 27th at 3pm, at the Galicia Jewish Museum.
