Merja Varkemaa Photography I'm Merja, a passionate hobbyist photographer living in Paris. I'm a natural light photographer and mostly shoot during the weekends. Welcome to my world!

My favorite past time is wandering the streets of my beautiful city, trying to capture little stories of life. I'm particularly drawn to light, especially the play between light and shadows and its reflections on different surfaces. I would like to define my genre as fine art street photography.

This is my contribution to , an international collaborative project capturing the ordinary details of the places we call home. Rather than focusing on famous landmarks, this project highlights the small, often unnoticed moments that define a city’s character.

April’s theme is “How We Move.” During a recent week back home in Helsinki, I moved through the city just as the locals do: on foot and by public transport. I wanted to capture how these everyday transitions look—from the rumble of the tram and the metro to the unique experience of taking a ferry as part of your daily commute.
