I truly think our worlds are shifting. So much of our work life is digital and online and I think a lot of us are feeling the digital fatigue. We want to touch things, experience things outside of this online world that’s been created for us and changed everything over the last decade and a half. I don’t want a recommendation from someone I don’t know on social media, I want one from a friend. I’m seeing it left right and center with now France banning social media in kids under 15 and a total ban of phones in all schools. While I love what digital (phone/internet/ai) does making our lives easier and it’s absolutely part of my world, I am realizing that the first thing I do on vacation is log off all my social media and put my phone down for days (until I remember I run a business and maybe should login to my email more than once a week lol I’m on maternity leave though, that’s a good excuse right?).

Maybe this is just me? What do you think? What are you feeling these days?

Call it a business expense 💅

💫Share this with an entrepreneur friend who needs to hear this and follow along for more like this

When you’re an entrepreneur you are naturally thinking about your business 24/7 (yes even on maternity leave… sorry I can’t turn my brain off lol) But When you leave your normal day to day for somewhere magical you leave room for magical ideas to come to you. Every single time I leave and go on vacation intending to *not* be ON, something exciting happens in my business or I am absolutely BOMBARDED with new ideas and questions in my brain. I come back with a list of things to check on, to tweak, and to inspire inspire me and my team.

Fun fact: I’ve actually been on 3 separate masterminds in the last 5 years specifically to do this: one in the Maldives, one in Thailand, and one on safari in Kenya. Each time I have come back with different things I needed: which was not only ideas but also clarity on what I did and didn’t want and assurance that I was doing some things right.

Entrepreneurship can sometimes feel like a grind if you let it be. In truth, we have to continuously adapt to a changing world. Having new ideals is not only essential to growth but also simply to survive.

I’m a photographer, so this isn’t even including the inspiration I get as an artist while out of my normal environment (which is already super inspiring. I mean it’s Paris!!)

So wherever you are, I know it’s hard to “take a day off” but it really could be the best thing you ever did for your business and for yourself. Consider this your permission to book the trip (or even just take the afternoon “off” and go to your local park with a notebook and see what happens.)

Did we overcorrect?

Thinking a lot about this as I’m on maternity leave from my photography studio here in Paris. How are we helping them remember this magical childhood of theirs?

💫On having your photographer print instead of just getting files: Yes it will be more expensive because they’re doing the work but those will be the highest quality and maybe as important, it will be DONE. Have them make you an album, put the album out and accessible and see how much your kids look through it!!

💫When you’re filtering through your own photos there are probably a bunch of duplicates. You’ll be surprised how much you get through in 5/10 minutes!!

💫Follow along and In the next video in this series I’ll be telling you how to print your camera roll really easily and without hassle.
