“Rang” is a fashion editorial shoot that shows a glimpse of the lives of people native to India, finding their place and comfort in a foreign land through interacting with Indian Sarees and colours complementary to them.
“Rang”, in the Hindi language means “colour”. This stands for the brown skin colour related with the Indian origin and also the significant relation of colours with the Indian culture, in various aspects.
As a brown woman in a country away from my home, the transition in finding my voice and place made me see the value of my community’s representation.
Through this concept, I want to give not just a voice to the brown people who are away from their native place but also, create a visual story for people outside this community to understand the bitter-sweet feeling of being out-of-place and finding home amid unfamiliarity.
