Lavender in Provence looks effortless in photos, but behind every beautiful session there is a lot of quiet planning.

Most lavender fields are private agricultural land. And in the last few years, the closest and most beautiful accessible spots have become very busy during the season, especially at sunset.

Sometimes there are cars, buses, groups of tourists and other photographers in the same place.

This is why I don’t photograph lavender sessions randomly. I plan the location depending on the date, the light, the atmosphere we want to create and how peaceful the place can feel at that exact moment.

For me, a lavender photoshoot is not only about standing in a field.

It is about creating a memory that feels elegant, natural and deeply connected to Provence.

What to wear for a lavender field photo session in Provence?

Your outfit is part of the story.

For a lavender field session, I always recommend thinking beyond “what looks pretty” and focusing on the feeling you want your photographs to have.

Soft, romantic, natural, editorial, effortless — each direction creates a different atmosphere.

This is why I guide my clients before the session, helping them choose pieces that feel harmonious with the light, the landscape and the mood of Provence.

You do not need a perfect wardrobe or a professional stylist.

A few thoughtful choices can completely transform the final images.

Why my best lavender dates are limited?

Lavender in Provence does not bloom everywhere at the same time.
Depending on the area, it is possible to see lavender from mid-June to mid-July — from the Luberon and Gordes area earlier in the season, to Valensole at its peak, and later in higher-altitude places like Sault.

But the kind of lavender sessions you see in my work happen in a much more specific window.
For me, it is not just about finding “a lavender field.”
It is about the right field, the right light, the right atmosphere, and the kind of Provence experience that feels beautiful, calm, cinematic, and unforgettable.
That is why I photograph lavender sessions only at sunrise and sunset — when the light is soft, golden, and truly flattering.
It is also why I don’t open endless dates all across the region.
Some areas are far, more complicated logistically, or less aligned with the kind of experience I want to create for my clients. I prefer to focus on the dates and locations where I know I can create my best work — the kind of images you see here in my portfolio.

So yes, lavender exists in Provence for several weeks.
But my best lavender dates are limited.

Lavender sessions 2026 are already booking fast, and half of my best dates are now reserved.

They appear suddenly in the Provence landscape — and for a short moment, everything feels more vivid, romantic, and alive.

Lavender may be the reason you dream of coming to Provence — and of course, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes to photograph.

But it doesn’t have to be the only place in your story.

Depending on what is in bloom, the period of the season, and where the light feels most beautiful, we can include golden wheat fields, sunflowers, olive groves, haystacks, quiet country roads, and sometimes even rare immortelle fields — delicate, poetic, and incredibly beautiful when we find them at the right moment.

Every summer, I find myself coming back here.
