"Mentor" the making of 📷
English text 🌎 :
Hi, it’s Bruno.
I’m taking you behind the scenes of the “Mentor” series with Julien, and as usual, it all starts with a location scout before the shoot. I didn’t have to go very far because the park in question was right next to my house.
I discovered this park by chance on January 1st while out for a walk, and I love it.
There are wooden bleachers with character, some slightly dreary vacant lots, and undergrowth where you can hide, needless to say, I came up with a scenario very quickly from there.
Julien is in his flamboyant forties; it would have been easy to call him a “daddy,” but I didn’t want to pin that cliché image on him. I preferred the notion of a “mentor”—a man of experience and wisdom who advises and guides those seeking knowledge. So Julien became a mentor/coach for this shoot.
For him, this photo shoot is part of his desire to establish himself as a model. That desire has led him to do a variety of shoots, often n**e; but for this one with me, he got dressed—and not in just any clothes: mine. The entire denim outfit was pulled from my closet just before we started the shoot, and I have to admit it was quite amusing to see him wearing my clothes, which looked great on him. There’s a British working-class vibe to it that I really like.
The weather that day was gray, and thankfully so, as it lent a melancholic and contemplative air to this photo series. Don’t worry, that didn’t stop Julien and me from being very close during the shoot and looking at each other and laughing spontaneously. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, with Julien happy to finally be able to show another side of his personality.
I can’t wait to share all these images with you, thank you, and see you soon!
