This was a profoundly mind altering experience.
Today I saw the Total Solar Eclipse while sailing the eastern coast of Greenland. This rare cosmic event on August 12, 2026 was surreal to say the least. I’ve seen partial eclipse in past years, like the one in New York in 2024, but this was an entirely different experience. As the eclipse reached its peak, the air became cold, a flock of kittiwakes immediately flew away from their resting spot on an iceberg, and the suns corona
Greenland was one of the prime locations along the narrow path of totality. For this expedition, seeing the eclipse against the backdrop of Greenland’s vast ice and Arctic landscape made it especially remarkable. This cosmic dancespectacular meeting of one of the wildest landscapes on Earth with one of the most dramatic events in the sky was super special.
… and the last time I tried to photograph an eclipse, I melted my camera sensor and burned part of my lens… fool me once..
