My go-to method for adding saturation in DaVinci Resolve.

Instead of using the standard Saturation slider, I prefer working in HSV to achieve richer, denser colors with a more cinematic feel.

Dedicated node, HSV color space, channels 1 and 3 disabled, then Gain adjustments to control saturation. I finish by reducing saturation in the highlights and refining color density for a more natural result.

After comparing both methods, HSV is definitely my favorite way to handle saturation.

SOMEWHERE WITH YOU 🎞️

Sometimes, it’s not about where you go, but who you’re with.

I wanted to capture a feeling rather than just a beautiful landscape. The silence, the little gestures, the connection between two people.

Hope you enjoy this little piece of cinema.

My go-to method for shaping contrast in DaVinci Resolve.
A dedicated node in Luminosity mode, a pivot set to 0.336 in DaVinci Intermediate, and the Primaries Contrast control to build the base.
Then, Custom Curves and Editable Splines to fine-tune the shadows, highlights, and tonal transitions.
I prefer working on contrast and saturation separately, so I can give the image more depth while keeping color intensity under control.

Whah if my footage looked like Blade Runner 2049?

Inspired by Roger Deakins’ iconic Las Vegas scenes, I recreated the orange color palette in DaVinci Resolve using contrast, color shaping and local adjustments.

From daylight in the mountains to a cinematic desert atmosphere. Watch the color grading before and after.

Does it capture the mood?
