​The recent incident involving two children taken into police care—following a neighbor’s courageous plea on social media—highlights a deeply concerning reality about child neglect and abuse in our communities. While the immediate intervention saved these children from further harm, it raises urgent questions about parental accountability, living conditions, and the broader responsibility we all share in protecting the vulnerable.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆​
​The mother in this situation must be thoroughly interrogated by authorities to determine the full scope of what transpired. Key questions must be answered: Why were these children kept out of school, denying them both an education and a safe environment? More critically, why was the abuse by the children’s uncle not reported to the authorities immediately? Abuse and severe neglect are not issues that can simply be swept under the rug or handled quietly within a family. Leaving a child in a dangerous situation without seeking help is a fundamental failure of parental protection.

This is really sad. It's a wonder how the driver didn't see these students in broad daylight.

Despite so many awareness and warnings from the relevant authorities drivers are still careless... specially when they're on the 📱... One hand on the wheel and the other trying to reply to a text/message 🤦

In a deeply solemn and poignant journey, Fijian rugby player Saimoni Vunilagi has taken his final flight back to his homeland. Boarding Fiji Airways' flagship Airbus A350, Island of Taveuni, the late athlete made the heartbreaking trip home accompanied by his grieving mother, who traveled as a passenger to bring her beloved son back to Fijian soil.

Vunilagi tragically passed away in Japan following a strenuous training session with his Japanese rugby team. His sudden passing sent shockwaves through both the Japanese and Fijian rugby communities, leaving teammates, coaches, and fans mourning the loss of a vibrant young talent whose career and life were cut short far too soon.

For his mother, the long flight from Japan to Fiji represents a heartbreaking final duty—accompanying her son on a voyage no parent ever wishes to make. Yet, amidst the profound sorrow, there is a sense of sacred peace as Fiji Airways carries Vunilagi back to the islands that raised him.

As the Island of Taveuni touched down, it brought an end to a tragic chapter overseas and marked the beginning of his final rest. Vunilagi leaves behind a legacy of dedication, athleticism, and the pride of representing Fiji on the international stage. He is now welcomed back into the warm embrace of his family, community, and homeland, where he will be laid to rest in his village in Nasama, Sigatoka with honor and love.
