🥭 Mango season is here in Coastal Tropical. 20€ for 10kg from a local family versus 7€ a kg in the shops and he delivers them to the house 😊 Some ready to eat and some to ripen through the week. 🤗

Albondigas en casa! Meatballs at home. I added powdered parmesan, a few strips of streaky bacon and a sun-dried tomato (chopped finely) to my meat mixture along with the required bread crumbs, seasoning and egg. Roasted halved tomatoes with onion, garlic and peppers for an hour in the oven and blitzed. Yum!

Important info. Ask the fishmonger for a whole fish to cook in salt in the oven. They will gut it differently and cut the fins.

Salt baked fish! Is treated as a bit of a speciality in restaurants with the theatre of cracking open the salt in front of you. In reality it is a simple way to cook a whole fish and the result is sweet and juicy.
Mix fat grains of salt with a little water to make it stick to your hand when mixing. Put a layer beneath and a layer on top like a bed! (No need to cover the head or tail) And bake. We did 25 minutes at 200° and then let it sit for 5 minutes. Simple and very tasty. 😊

Tonight we stopped in one of the oldest bars in Granada city. With a great choice of bocadillos it's a lively spot, frequented by mainly locals. Great to discover these places, just off of the main streets.

Lubrin is a picturesque village all year round. It also has a famous Bread festival which is held this week, with the lobbing of the bread happening tomorrow by all accounts.

How to live San Sebastian 'to the fullest' in the province between bread and gunpowder
Every year, thousands of people visit the town of Lubrín, attracted by one of the most unique and authentic traditions in the province of Almería: the Bread Festival . This is a festival that has been declared of Tourist Interest in Andalusia and stands out for its uniqueness and an unusual but typical gesture in some towns in the north of the province: from the balconies, the neighbours throw breads, donuts and doughnuts while the saint's float advances beneath them.

These are the festivities in honour of San Sebastián that the municipality celebrates every 19th and 20th of January each year. The Bread Festival is not only a religious celebration, but it is also an act full of symbolism. The bread that the neighbours throw from their balconies represents generosity, the act of sharing and unity with the rest of the community.

It's bright and chilly! It's definitely soup 🍲 weather. And what better in Spain than Roasted Tomato and red pepper? Even my local shop has around 5 types of Almerian tomatoes to choose from.
