Rota, what a special place to be! 🥰🌻 My photography heart is so happy here. I’m so thankful I get to capture so many moments and share little glimpses into so many people’s lives in this beautiful place. I switched out my winter turtleneck photos for these pictures of me in the sunflower fields, courtesy of my sweet husband who helps out with shoots when he can.

If you’re just meeting me through this post, hi! 👋🏽 I’m so glad you found me. I’m Karlye, a natural light photographer in Rota, Spain. I’m a kid-focused family photographer and a love-focused couples photographer, and my hope is that you walk away from a shoot with me saying, “Wait, that was actually a lot of fun!”. I shoot mainly digital, but also offer film.

I’d like to say I’m from Oklahoma, that’s where I was for 7 years before moving to Spain. I’m a dog mom of 3 and an avid container gardener (please Spanish sun don’t kill my flowers)! I am also a Jellycat collector, crocheter, an Air Force spouse, and a mom friend. Thanks for following along, seriously, and for reading to the end.

You guys, this one was so fun. ✨I was so excited to plan this with Gabrielle for her birthday. I instantly thought, how fun would it be to start the night with some pictures all together with the golden light from the setting sun and then end with some fun posed photos cheering with champagne and just having fun. 🥂

These best friends were nonstop laughs and good energy, and I don’t think I stopped smiling while editing. Btw peep the last pic of our group photo I am so happy we got! Happy Birthday Gabrielle! Thank you for inviting me to your party ❤️📸

Abby and Steven ✨ Truly one of those sessions that stays with you. From the very beginning, everything felt easy. The quiet overcast light, the muted tones of downtown Rota, and the way they trusted the process so completely created space for something honest and deeply connected. Nothing felt forced. It was simply love, unfolding naturally, frame by frame.

I edited this gallery to feel as close to real life as possible. While many of my Rota sessions lean warm, this one asked to stay cool and soft. I carefully balanced skin tones while allowing the surrounding architecture to keep its natural hues, letting the album settle into a gentle, romantic calm that mirrored the day itself. There were SO many good pictures I doubled my typical delivery amount, just in time for Christmas. So incredibly thankful to have been chosen to capture this moment in their lives.
