I can’t think of much else to say than THANK YOU to everyone who’s supported me and my work. Especially my dear friends, Ahmed, Ibrahima, Izair, Abdi, Bourama, Younoussa, Ibrahim, Jamal, Mamadi, Yousouf, and many others who have allowed me into their lives, and have become dear friends of mine. It was such a special day to remember forever. I just wish my family could one day be with me in this special moments. Inshallah one day. Fotitos con el tremendo equipo de en algunas sesiones en Poble Sec, Barcelona. Desde hace algunos meses estoy haciendo voluntariado con ellos, jugando cada martes con chicos de muchos países: migrantes, refugiados, voluntarios, estudiantes… reunidos para compartir deporte, compañerismo y solidaridad entre pueblos.
SSB usa el fútbol como herramienta de inclusión social: crean espacios seguros, acompañan procesos de integración, fomentan redes comunitarias y abren oportunidades para personas migrantes y refugiadas a través del deporte y el trabajo colectivo. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

I took these images ealier this year in Birmingham, UK with my friends Hussein, Jabir, Seadala, Kasım, Abderzak, and my dear Ferej who, as always took great care of me. We took long walks, ate great food, drove around, had loads of Eritrean coffee and had some great conversations. These are part of a long term project I’ve been shooting with since 2017 back in Calais. Thinking of them now, and hoping to make it over there again soon, Birmingham always feels like such an interesting yet underated city. Shot on

Last year I spent an afternoon with my friend Zina .inaj at her mother’s shop in Malmö, Samantha’s Afrobutik. Samantha, has run the shop for many years now, seven days a week. The place holds a bit of everything — shelves with African food, bright dresses, hair products, and some chairs in the back where people come to talk, like any proper community shop. It’s the kind of place where you go for one thing and end up staying longer than you planned. In this case I wanted to photograph Samantha and Zina in that space, surrounded by the textures of their everyday lives. The photos were taken on 120 film, with a few digital frames.
