Name: Common Crane / Eurasian Crane
Scientific Name: Grus grus
Family: Gruidae
Location: Europe, Asia, especially Estonia, Finland, Germany, Poland, and wetlands across Eurasia
Habitat: Wetlands, marshes, lakesides, agricultural fields, open grasslands

Background story:
I was driving toward Nõva–Põõsaspea, enjoying the quiet road and the peaceful evening light. The forest felt calm, almost empty, like time had slowed down for a while.

Then I noticed two Common Cranes standing in the field.
I stopped the car and watched them from a distance. They were calm, moving slowly, completely at home in the silence of nature. One of them walked into the golden light, and that was the moment I captured.

Sometimes the best photographs come from unexpected stops on a quiet road.

It wasn’t just about the bird or the photo — it was about that peaceful moment on the way to Põõsaspea, when nature quietly shared a small part of its world with me.

It's not clear exactly when the White Stork was first found in Estonia, as the species has likely been present in the region for thousands of years. However, the bird has long been an important cultural symbol in Estonia and other parts of Europe, and has been studied extensively by scientists and birdwatchers.
