As December settles over Denmark, I’m reminded how this season invites both celebration and reflection. For many internationals, it can be joyful, nostalgic, and sometimes challenging - especially when winter feels heavy, or home feels far away.
This year, I’ve been thinking a lot about the quiet courage of kindness. Not grand gestures, but the everyday moments: a neighbour helping translate a letter, a colleague checking in, a stranger holding the door a little longer. These small acts can mean everything when you’re navigating a new country.
If you or someone you know is struggling this season, please reach out. Denmark’s 24/7 helpline is 116 123. No one should carry their burdens alone.
As we close out the year, I encourage you to recognise the good, the conversations, discoveries, or small victories that often go uncelebrated. And if you’re seeking change, whether professionally or personally, trust that reinvention is possible at any age.
Let’s also remember to pay it forward within our international community: offer an introduction, share advice, and invite someone for coffee. These gestures ripple outward.
And personally, I want to thank my incredible team for their compassion and support during a difficult year for my family. Their dedication kept our mission at The International Denmark moving forward, and I am deeply grateful.
To everyone in our community: thank you for reading, engaging, and sharing your stories with us. You are the heart of what we do.
